Very moisturizing
Since I don't love the feeling of a moisturizer on the body, this product has been very helpful for me to keep my skin moisturized. It is an oily gel texture with a very slight lather but it does clean the body effectively. Not only does this not strip the skin of its moisture, but it helps to put the nourishment back into the skin so it feels soft and supple after drying off. I have used other more nourishing body washes in the past, and sometimes they really coat the tub with an oily layer that causes the surface to be slippery. This doesn't do that, as it washes away clean without leaving a residue in the shower, which I really appreciate. Not to mention, the 1L size lasts forever between my partner and myself. He does get flares of eczema from time to time, and this has been helpful for him in maintaining his skin health.
Take two
I bought this once before, and I really am satisfied. I have some skin issues on my body, and this tends to soothe them. I use this when I am itchy from the cold air, when I have rashes from insect bites, because I live in the country and you can help to wake up with nasty bites on my body :( . Also, I don't like what is presented for the market for women's skin at a maturing age. The superstore's offering, ,they are harsh, too perfumery, (a lot of quantity, not enough quality). Yes, I feel clean, but I am also sneezing and wheezing from the perfume. The other soaps, I have used tend to dry my skin and now I am ashy. So yes, I do think that this is a good but, f you are looking for something that is good for what is ailing your skin. Also I like the scent, it is fresh, and clean.
Comforting cleanser with an overpowering scent
The consistency of Atoderm Shower Oil is more liquidy than I expected when I first tried it, like a gel-oil. It cleanses very effectively without stripping the skin or leaving a residue behind. After showering, my skin tends to be dry and dehydrated from exposure to the warm water alone, so I follow-up with Bioderma Atoderm Intensive Balm or Gel Cream. I don't feel the need to use as much lotion as I used to since I started using the shower oil, though.
I was initially hesitant to try it because of the fragrance ingredient due to my eczema and sensitive nose. It hasn't caused any irritation so far and is a vast improvement over the Vanicream Gentle Body Wash I'd been using for years. I find the scent pleasant but overpowering. It'd be just about perfect if the scent level was reduced, or if Bioderma released a fragrance-free version.
Good but the smell?
I bought this w/o reading the ingredients- oops. I typically don't buy products with fragrance but this one slipped by me. I like the fact that it doesn't strip my skin, seems to be doing a good job with mitigating dryness and sensitivity.. but the smell? Smells like old school Neutrogena on roids. Like a fake baby powder smell.. totally noxious and unnecessary imo. Overall not terrible since it works, but please- make an unscented?
Awesome Body Cleanser!
This is a great body oil cleanser, you get a huge amount for the price (1 L) and its def worth it. This reminds me of the L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil, minus the almond scent but it has light/mild scent to it. This is perfect. It gently cleanses and you still have that "clean feeling" that other low sudsing formulas tend to not have. I wouldn't say it's hydrating in itself but it definitely doesn't dry out your skin and is the perfect prep for your body emulsions, lotions, or creams. I really like it. I can honestly say it's one of my favorite body washes. I even purchased one for my mom and she loves it too!
It's soap
I didn't find this soap to be anymore hydrating than any other soap. If you're looking for a product to help fight EXTREMELY dry skin this is not the product for you. It has fragrance so be mindful of that. I'm not going to repurchase because I find Aveno body wash more moisturizing at a lower cost.
Not a dupe for L’Occitane
I bought a small size just to try to see if it could be a cheaper alternative to the L’Occitane Shower Oil. Although, it is cheaper, it is not a dupe. It left my skin not tight or dry, but I did feel like I needed to put on lotion afterwards. (With the L’Occitane I don’t.) I has a thin oil texture that works up into a low lather cleanser with a delicate floral scent. (Which neither bothered me or excited me.) I have other gentle cleansers that I prefer to this, won’t buy again but I don’t hate it.
