Hey guys! so my husband let me pick out a christmas present for myself! so I decided to finally get a CHI straightner, and with ulta right now if you spend $50 you get a free beauty bag! so of course I got that too, I believe everything in the bag is sample size, but how do you guys feel about the CHI? is it as good as I've always heard? I have shoulder length hair, its naturally pretty straight with a few wavy spots here and there.

I had a chi a few years ago. This was just my personal experience, but I didn't think it was worth the money. It lasted me maybe either a year & a half or two years. Nothing more. A little over a year the switch broke off, then I got it fixed. Then a little after that it had broke again. Then months went by & one day it just started smoking & it just stopped working. I got it fixed & it did it again. So I bought some $20 straightener from target (which I still I have till this day) & it straightens my hair better than the chi ever did. I have super thick curly hair & it wasn't the best at straightening my hair. Overall, I wouldn't purchase one ever again.

Agree with Dereanna, I didnt think my chi was worth the money for not working well plus it would burn my hair. I had bad experience with it. I bought one at walmart and its working perfectly fine and it was only $30.

Personally I love mine. I've had it for 3 years now I believe. Still working and perfectly at that. I've dropped it plenty of times, too! I got another for Christmas last year and still use the old one. won'tuse the new one until the other breaks, but so far it doesn't seem as it will yet. I love the pink sparkles!

I have a Chi and I don't hate it, but I agree with the girls that it isn't worth the price. My hair is naturally pretty straight, so I don't have to spend much time using it. My main problem with the Chi is that it doesn't have heat settings.
You get a year warranty with it and keep the receipt. Try it out for yourself. You never know, it may work great for you :)

I loved my chi dearly. It lasted me 7 years of regular use. My hair is super thick and curly and this gave me natural-looking straight hair, a as opposed to the stiff, fake "bad relaxer" look I get from other straighteners. Mine did create a bit of steam when I used it and it eventually started falling apart (plastic chipped off from me dropping it dozens of times over the years) but the plates still got hot quickly and straightened with only a couple passes. I know there are a LOT of knockoffs sold in stores and online, which may be why people have such vastly different experiences?

Jack^ I'm so glad to know it gives off the naturally straight look! and yes I was wondering the same thing as you with the knock off CHI, I actually came across an article about knock off ones lastnight and read horror stories about what the knock offs did to hair while I was doing research before I bought mine.

I've had mine for 7 years!! one side though where it covers the plate is broken from a drop like 2 years ago and it still works perfectly fine and still curls and straightens like it should, the cord is also starting to have some issues but then again this just started happening like during the summer. I just bought a replacement one in case mine gives out on me and I only paid 60 since I had all my points and a coupon

I think it's worth it I really do, and I believe that with certain things like straighteners and curling irons you really do need to invest in something good.

One thing an ulta employee told me was to get the original chi. Not the ultra chi, or the colored chis but just the first original one. She explained to me how the original one has a two year warranty while the others just have a one year one and then she showed me difference of the material like the holiday sets where plasticky while the original one has like a more hard and sturdy material. Also the weight differences between them the original one is heavier which she said protects it more and shows which one is better quality even though they are all the same brand
