Okay so my eyes are like a coca cola color i guess you can say, but they look black a lot of the time. any ways to make them look lighter? I found that outlining my eyes in pitch black liner does the trick, but that begins to look racoon-y after a while so i'm like burnt out on that one. any tips from my other brown eyed beauties?

mine are the same way. i like using purple or brown shadows to lighten them up. one of my favorite brown shades is coffee bean by elf. the gold flecks in it help bring out the brown in my eyes a lot, too.
i'll even do purple eyeliners. i don't do real bright purple though, more of an eggplant. i like boarduex power point eye pencil by mac. i'll usually smudge it on the lower lash line or on the upper lashes depending on the look i'm going for (upper for day, lower for night). hope that helped!

Instead of pitch black liner try a navy blue or a dark blue liner. I have dark eyes and i actually discovered how good they looked on accident. but i have dark brown eye and it really makes my eye pop.
Hope i helped ,
Kayla

I agree with Samantha. A nice dark purple eyeliner like eggplant really helps make dark brown eyes pop. I used it once for work and my co-worker complimented me on it. My co-worker is a big make-up junkie so I trust her word :)
If you are not sure about colored liners just try out the cheap stuff first. ELF has some nice colored eyeliner cream for about $3 that doesn't fade.

I like tarte clay liner in black... it lasts all day! and then outline the bottom lashes and lid with urban decay 24/7 jumbo eye pencil in morphine and blend that into crease. It really makes brown eyes stand out.

I also have similar eyes. If you want to get rid of the raccoon effect, i would recommend going for a good liquid liner instead since its unlikely they'll budge and become all raccoony.
Also I found that my eyes really stood out when i used a bright colored liner. Things like a green turquoise eyeshadow eyeliner all around my eyes made them really pop. So did a bright blue liner underneath my eyes.
As everyone above said, a dark blue eyeliner and plum type eyeliner also works well.
Try the different colors in a shop and decide for yourself (or bring a friend) since some colors will go better with your skin tone then others.
Good luck! =)

Try lining the bottom lashline or highlighting the inner corner tear duct with a shiny metallic colored eyeshadow - it will reflect light and bring light into your eyes. =)

Brown eyes are a very versatile type because they can pull off every color. But for brown eyes to really stick out, you have to use purples, blues, pinks, and browns. Sometimes even a little gold. But not over the edge Lady Gaga make-up! Very simple yet eye popping.
