Dark Eyeshadow Tips! HELP!

Alright so this question is for everyone, but if you are a woman of color, I am specifically talking to you girl. So I want to know how to use bright and dark colors on my eyes without looking crazy. Like purple for example, I wont wear it because I think it makes me look like I got punched in the eye! Smokey eye? Oh no, I feel like a raccoon lol Will somebody please gimme some tips!

@ denae and ivelisse: almost all my looks are done with SACHA Cosmetics.. dont know if u ever heard of them but they are pretty affordable here. For the purple look, i placed a plum colour from AVON called "Plum". Its a cream colour. Then i packed some purple eye shadow from SACHA on top of that (covering my entire lid up to the crease). Then added a grey in the outer corners with a touch of black. Then liner, mascara and that was it!

For the smokey look: i placed the gold colour all over my lid, added some black to the outer corner and blended it super well. Added a light brown colour slightly above my crease to "tie" it all together and then i added a highlighter colour under my brows. I lined my top and bottom lashline and smudged some black eyeshadow on my lower lash line. All the products used were SACHA.

And thanks for the compliments guys..It means ALOT..i wanna post more looks but i get so lazy..haha
