Hi everyone. :) so I was just wondering what you thiought was too young to start wearing makeup. Most girls my age that I know started wearing makeup in 6th grade - not much for most of them, but i remember some being really trashy. There was this one girl that wore thick eyeliner on top and bottom lashline and looked like she never washed it off... gross! Most girls like me, though, would wear some mascara, lipgloss, and some cheap eyeshadow. So when did you start wearing makeup, and how young is too young, in your opinion?

I started wearing makeup in 7th grade, but that was basically eyeliner and mascara, but then I started wanting to cover up my breakouts and I remember getting some neutrogena powder and using that. But there are some girls as young as 5th grade that are wearing a full face of makeup almost, which it ridiculous! I didn't start doing that until...well this year (I'm gonna be a freshman in high school). I think anywhere in middle school-high school is a good place to start. But any younger than middle school is craaaazy!

I don't know. I've got to say it, I think it's partly the beauty community's fault for all of these kids in like 5th grade that are wearing MAC foundation and everything like that. For example, juicystar07 and allthatglitters21 gear themselves toward young girls and they don't teach them to wear a little lipgloss, some mascara, and call it a day. No, these girls do tutorials on full face makeup which makes these girls want to go out and buy all of this makeup that they don't even need. I know the parents are at fault too, but some of these bigger gurus could at least teach younger girls that they don't need 2k lbs of makeup on to go out. Ya know what I mean? It's not really any of my business on when it's the appropriate age for somebody to start wearing makeup, but I definitely wouldn't let my child go out wearing so much makeup at such a young age. It's one thing to do it for the fun of it in your bedroom, but it's another to feel like you have to have it on to go out.

I begin wearing makeup in 8th grade and only because the freshmen girls grabbed me in the bathroom and put makeup on me!!! I was kinda tomboyish back in the day and they wanted me to look pretty for my 8th grade yearbook picture!!! And thanks to them I did....lol!!! But recently is when I got into nails and makeup and I absolutely love it!!!!

I usually just wore eyeshadow, mascara and eyeliner in high school with maybe some lip balm. I don't wear foundation and all that though.

Erica - I totally agree with you. If I was a 5th grader and I saw some of JuicyStar07's videos, I would wear that makeup to school every day if my mom let me! I started watching xSparkage when I was like 10 from stealing my sister's seventeen magazine and searching her up on youtube, and I would steal my mom's eyeshadow and recreate her looks. not foundation or anything, just eyeshadow. MAN, I really wanted to wear it to school, but my mom just wouldn't let me. Now that I'm about to be a freshmen, I see how bad that looks for a 10-year-old little girl to be wearing tons of makeup. But somehow I feel that some girls do it for self-expression, others to "cover up" imperfections that aren't even there. Have you seen the allthatglitters21 foundation routine? This girl's skin is PERFECT and she's covering it up with high-coverage foundation. I see where you're coming from, them thinking their skin is bad because they see Elle putting foundation on a perfect face. All in all, if MY 5th grader wants to wear makeup, I'd give her some lip gloss and clear mascara and talk some sense into her. xD

I love JuicyStar and AllThatGlitters!!! Also Kandee she makes me smile!!!

I totally agree with you Erica!! I went to walmart today to pick up some hair products and I was browsing the beauty isle and there were the two ten year old girls with their parents looking at the makeup. It was the girls look at the makeup, not thier moms! And sure thats fine but they were saying how this and that is way better than that and how they like the color of this over that. I was like "OMG YOUR 10!!" Girls that young shouldn't know THAT much about makeup, I know I didn't. I didn't know anything about it at ten but these girls were talking like they knew just as much as I did. It was crazy, and they kept getting in my way when I was looking at the Milani polishes xD

Kassie- Ha! I just basically threw shadow on my eyes trying to be like the youtubers when I was 10! I threw colors on my eyes, not caring what they were or how they complimented my skin. xD I think girls are learning younger and younger how to do their makeup because of the internet. But I must say that I know a lot more than my mom, and I'm only 14. I took modeling classes and they taught me ALL about makeup :]

I think makeup is a right of passage... and 16 is a great age to start... any earlier is fine for play or special occasions, but not daily wear. I wore only eye makeup in HS, and the full-face didn't happen until I was 24.

I started wearing makeup when I was 17. But these days parents are letting their children wear makeup at a very young age.

I would say 15...high school really and nothing too heavy...enjoy your youth :)

The perfect age, for me, to start wearing like mascara and blush is 13/14.
