Bare Minerals

Do many people use it on here? I'm getting the foundation but what has confused is the need for the Mineral Veil.

The girl I dealt with in the shop was very pushy about getting the veil but to me it just is another finishing powder so can I not just use the one I already have?

Also I'm worried about using it after I've moisturised as I use oils - will it cake?

Next time, ask for a sample to take home! I got a sample of BE when I first decided to try mineral makeup, and got a pretty decent size that lasted me a good week. Unfortunately, their original and matte formulas made my skin feel tight and itchy. =(

You don't really need the mineral veil. If you're looking into mineral makeup, try looking into trying samples from Afterglow cosmetics or Alima. I've heard great things from both companies.  =)

I love bare minerals BUT the matte formula! i don't care what the girls at the counter say about how i should use the "regular" formula because I don't like all the glitter and the way it makes my skin look...so definetly try the matte formula! as for the mineral veil...i like it...it really gives that flawless finished look and you can't feel it on your face at all (so it won't feel heavy or anything)...like "soma s." said..ask for a sample and see how you like it. I really do and it lasts a long time.

The mineral veil is a great setting powder. It also helps make your pores smaller. It you have really oily skin or large pores I'd say definitely get it. It does not cake at all.

I tried Bare Minerals and it made me break out like crazy! So I wouldn't repurchase it. BUT I loooove the mineral veil. When I talked to the saleswoman at my Bare Minerals, she said it would basically set your makeup, make it sweat proof, budge proof, etc. I really liked it and still occasionally use it. Just be careful because it can come with shimmer. I bought one from Ulta and grabbed the one with shimmer in it unknowingly.

I hope that helps!

I can't use Bare Minerals without the Veil. I have very dry skin, but the foundation alone on my skin feels sticky and cakey unless I set it. The veil does this perfectly, but I have plenty of other setting powders that do the same thing. ELF's booster works just as well, though I don't like the fact that it's tinted, and any simple rice or silica powder is also fine.

My friend uses Bare Minerals and she says the Mineral Veil is the best product they have, sometimes she just uses that if she doesn't feel like doing her whole "foundation routine"

I don't like using the mineral veil when I use my bare minerals. I find the minerals a bit drying as is and the veil just makes my fine lines look more obvious.

If I'm having a slightly oily day I just use Makeup Forever's finishing powder (not all natural but I find it's finer and lighter than the veil) in the center of my forehead, along my nose, and just under my bottom lip.. But unless you're prone to oil I'd just skip it.

I've tried Bare Minerals over and over again hoping ot change my mind about it, but I've never had much luck with them. I'm generally in between colors so I need to purchase two and mix my own. Even then, I feel like it's left a grey cast on my skin when first applied, then the powder seems to oxidate a lot over the course of the day. I always used the Mineral Veil with it but for touch ups throughout the day, I would use a pressed powder because I couldn't deal with the messy powder in my makeup bag.

I haven't tried the matte version though so I may be going back to try that out.. if I don't like it, one good thing I've noticed about Bare Minerals is that it layers well over tinted moisturizer or different foundations by acting like a tinted finishing powder if you need to color adjust a bit.

Mineral Veil is like the icing on the cake. It helps blend everything together seamlessly and blurs imperfections.

I love their mineral veil and it doesn't make me break out. When I use my mineral veil, I don't use a powder foundation under it. I just use it to set my liquid foundation. I like that it's sheer. I've found that their foundations (original and matte) darken after I've had then on for an hour or so, and that looks bad on my super pale skin! And applying it over powder foundation feels much too thick for my liking.

I'm a huge Bare Minerals fan! I've recently started using the hydrating mineral veil (as opposed to the regular formula) and I find that I prefer that one since its less drying. Its very light and I haven't run into a problem with it caking on my skin. If you already have a finishing powder that you like, though, I would stick with that since mineral veil is basically a finishing powder. Maybe when you run out of that you can give the mineral veil a try since the Bareminerals foundation and mineral veil might work better in conjunction with one another.
