I know it's hard to get into the modeling industry, but it is something that I really want to do. The thing is I don't know how to go about getting into modeling. I would appreciate any help, tips or advice anyone could give to get started as a model.

I don't know if i'm what modeling agencies are looking for either, so any tips on what type of person is generally suited to the modeling buisness will help me decide if it's right for me.

Thank you!

You need to be over 5"8 I think, but you are definitely what agencies are looking for, you're slim, beautiful and have very unique features :)

Go to a professional photographer and get some pro photos done (but be safe, always take a parent with you) and start building up a portfolio. I'm sure there will be a modelling agency in your area :)

You're over 5'8" then you are agency standard. And you are 15 which is a great age to start since most modeling careers end by age 23. You don't need pr photos right now; agencies should arrange test shoot for you. You will need some good snap shots where you have little to no makeup on. You should just walk into an agency. I don't know what city you are in but LA and NY are the best cities in the US to get the most work. Once you sign with an agency they can get you work and send you to go-sees. What city are you in? If you could sign to a good modeling agency like Next, Ford, IMG, Photogenics, etc. that would be best. If you are in a small town you might have to go with a smaller agency until you move. I would love to know more about your specific situation so I can give more specific advice. I have a lot of friends who are models who are in W, Vogue, Nylon, etc. I could definitely ask them to give you some pointers. Feel free to email me as well; my email is on my website that is linked on my profile.

Thank you for your advice. I live in the UK though so I don't know whether I am able to join those agencies you suggested? But I will definitely e-mail you! Thank you for your help :)

Build up your head shots and portfolio with TFP shoots on www.modelmayhem.com

I believe they extend to UK too, but be careful of creepers posing as wannabe photographers. Remember to check out their own portfolio pics and website to see how they operate professionally, and always let someone know where you are during a shoot. Also, make sure you read all press release contracts carefully with any photog you work with. They may own the rights to the photo, but make sure they cant sell it to a dog food commercial or adult website without your consent in the fine print. Hope that helps!

Okay thank you:]

Well, I think the modeling industry has changed a bit since I was 15-18 and modeling. One thing that hasn't changed much is people looking to scam you. I don't know where you live but I was fortunate (or unfortunate) enough to live in NYC where model scouts were everywhere. To be honest, if you have what it takes you will not have to spend a dime becoming a model. If an agency wants you they will invest in you. They will have their photographers build you a portfolio and this is useful since they already know what their clients are looking for. Now, you may need to build a portfolio on your own so I would recommend test shoots and TFPCD's which is when you collab with a MUA, hair stylist, and photographer to build a portfolio...everyone working for free. This will take some trial and error because most people who are buliding a portfolio are new to the industry themselves therefore you can potentially get amature quailty photos (you do not want to take bad photo's to an agent). Once you get a decent port you can then go to agency's and tell them you would like them to repersent you. If they like you and your port they'll try to find you some gigs if they don't they will either send you away or try to make a profit off of you by telling you that you need to pay to have photo's taken with their photographers or you need to pay to go through their modeling training. This is not really a scam its just them saying they don't think you are good enough for repersentation...just be advised that with their expensive photos and training you still may not be good enough for them and now less a few thousand dollars.
