Has anyone ever told you you wear too much makeup and how do you typically respond?

I'm a junior and I like the change my makeup day to day. It could be no makeup makeup one day and full glam the next. I've had people tell me I'm wearing too much makeup, typically family and close friends and it's bothers me a little. Like I'm putting it on for me and to practice you know?? Oh well. How do you ladies feel about this?

This happens to me often, I get it from strangers and just about anyone. I try to ignore it, but it does tend to hurt my feelings.

Definitely do whatever you feel comftorble in and honestly if anyone does that to you just tell them to flip off you're beautiful no matter what you have on.

I get this all the time girls I feel you 100%. So you're definitely not alone. I think as long as we know why we put it on (because it's fun and we love it Duh people 😉) then we are fine. Everyone is absolutely beautiful with and without makeup and I think letting people know why you put it on and stuff it may open their eyes a little, just nicely explaining its simply on your face because YOU love it! Don't ever change for anyone you are beautiful and perfect just the way you are 😊❤️

I get it too and I get told I spend too much on high end makeup when drugstore is the same quality, but honestly if it makes me happy then I'm not going to change or stop because of another's opinion

That's actually weird. I have never been told straight up, nor have I heard it being said otherwise, something of that nature. And by total strangers some of you have heard it? Wow, the nerve. Well, I'm lying, I have once by my boyfriend but that day I tried a new foundation and GURL it was not working with me lmao. He only said so because I brought it to light when I was looking at myself. Lmao. Anyways, don't let it get to you. You are going to be criticized REGARDLESS so might as well do what ever the hell pleases you at the end of the day.

This makes me sad so many girls get criticized for this :(

I've been told that before and it bothered me so much that I changed my whole makeup routine. Then I realized that it didn't really matter what others thought about my makeup because it made me happy. Idc anymore it's my face let me do what I want with it lol
And like Renay said people will always have something to say, so just do you. Do whatever makes you happy (:

Makeup is only there to enhance the beauty we already have.makeup just makes us more confident about ourselves.if someone doesnot like it who cares!!we got no time for negative energy! :)

I get this all the time, especially at school. Everyone always jokes that they've never seen the "Real Tessandra". It upsets me sometimes, but I always tell them I wear my makeup for me and I love doing it. And if they keep pressing it, then I tell them to screw off. I don't tell them how to live their lives, so they don't need to interfere with mine. That usually shuts them up :) Just as long as you're comfortable with the amount and style

You wear, no one elses opinions matter. Do what makes you happy :) And sorry for the weird posting, I accidentally pushed the button when I was typing :)

When people tell me this I just tell them to shut up. It honestly does not affect them. And when we're young is the time we can get away with wearing a lot of makeup so I just wear what I want and have fun doing it. I also get criticized for spending way too much money on makeup and hair which is true but again it's not other people's business so I really wish people would stop makeup shaming

I've gotten it from my mom, all I tell her is its not on your face so don't trip, unless its on your face don't worry about it

I hear it all the time. I just tell them that it's my face and I want to be creative and be me. Also I tell them that I enjoy applying it. It's really none of their business anyway.

Girl PREACHHHH 🙌 I could not tell you how many times I've been told this. I have naturally bad skin so I wear face makeup because it makes me feel better about myself and because I love it! It's like when I wear it people think I wear too much and if I don't wear any people will stare because my face is raging red with scars and acne. I've gotten better with not wearing "too much" but I don't really think there's such thing as too much. Wear what YOU want. That's be most important. I usually just respond uncomfortably like "oh...okay" because regardless people need to just keep their opinions to themselves and to shut their MOUTHS. It isn't their face and it's like what's the point if saying that?

I usually says something snotty like "because I can actually do more than just mascara and lipstick"💁 or something about how because I spend so much money on makeup I will try to put as much as I can:p but I mean that's my super sarcastic and some may say bitchy personality so the people I've actually told that too don't really get too offended:) and also if someone dares to comment on my face then that gives me the right to comment back, I'm also very aggressive and get very defensive:( lol.

I see it this way for the most part if someone mentions that to another it's a round about way of saying it's not properly applied, think about it really how do most deal with saying anything without hurting one's feelings? For the most part many can basically sugar coat it and add a dash of salt. It's done every day it's done here on Beautylish with comment's and only you can make the decision on how you want to take it in. Sure wear what you like it's a given but we will always wonder why it was really said And learning from it. Never hurts to ask a person why they would say such a thing but approach it in a calm manner so they can truly be honest if it's great feed back then let it soak in and do what you will with it :)

I have a very picky guy friend that always says that he can tell I'm wearing makeup, this is at school and hardly anyone else can pick it up.. I'm just like really.. You had to point it out? 😂 if I want to try to not look half dead then I will thanks 💁don't let it bother you, it's your face. x

I have! And I'm the same; I love anything from a natural look to a full blown smokey look...I don't really care what people have to say about my makeup. Like. At all. It's my way of expressing myself and I enjoy it.(: If family or friends do this routinely (remind you that you put makeup on your face as if you forgot you had done so.) ask them why it bothers them. Everyone's preference and amount of makeup when it becomes "heavy" is different..

I just tell them I like to get fancy...even if it does hurt your feelings...keep it pushing...and smile on...:)

I think it's all about how the others opinion is worded, going back but more into details to my previous comment I've gotten different approaches to my face, I've gotten comments on wearing too much eyeliner which is why I stopped wearing black eye
Inner and switched to Brown but for the most part don't use any anymore, but I've also gotten the why wear so much if I'm not doing something super big/ special

I also wear loads of makeup and get the same comments. I usually just tell them that it's my face and I'll put whatever I want and however much I want on it regardless of their opinion. At the end of the day it's your face and your appearance and you need to do what makes you happy.

Maybe the meant...(postive vibes) that you wear too much for the occasion...like Idk hypothetically If you were makeup n get all dressed up to go to the store...maybe they're saying your wearing too much makeup for everyday things...and saying you look great without it. Idk girly don't sweat it too much.
