I am using scrub type of exfoliator these days, but it hurts my skin a liitle bit even when I rub it really smoothly on my face. I've used different types of exfoliation products that have soft texture before, but I didn't feel that they were doing something on my face. Do you know exfoliation products that are soft, but still good at exfoliation?

Neutrogena has good ones... I like the grape fruit one.

For me nothing is better than the IASO triple action peeling gel for me (http://go-iaso.com/products/iaso-triple-action-white-peeling-gel?variant=4244105859). It's a korean exfoliator that I currently use for months now because I have a sensitive skin and it removes my dead skin cells really smoothly.

Have you tried a chemical exfoliant such as an AHA or BHA? I use a BHA from Paula's Choice in a gel form and find it really brightens up my complexion and improves the appearance of blackheads and pores.

I agree with Mich that topical exfoliants might be better suited for your skin. I rotate between physical and topical exfoliants and find that I see far better results with the topical plus less irritation. Peeling gels are also a great alternative like Sophie mentioned. I just got into those myself and have one from AquaReveal (it's called water peel)which is pretty nice. You can literally see all the dead skin just peel up into little balls. And when you rinse off you have smooth, baby soft skin.

Not only chemical peels give you much better results, (very useful piece of advice I got from Shelley a while ago) but scrubs which have micro beads have a devastating effect on marine environment. I hate to be the party-pooper that brings things like that up, but I feel forced to say it.

In addition to what the other ladies suggested, you can also try something like a konjac sponge, manual brush, or silicone scrubber with your regular cleanser, so you can have absolute control over how rough/soft you need to be.

I was going to bring up the same point about microbeads! Here is a quote from a NYTimes article from Erin Crotty, Executive Director of Audubon New York and Vice President of the National Audubon Society, said, “Small plastics like microbeads pose a growing threat to many bird species that feed at the water’s surface. Many waterbirds mistake plastics for food -- or are susceptible to bioaccumulation of plastic in the fish they eat -- with detrimental effect, including decreased food-absorption and starvation." Of course there are many physical exfoliators but have come to really like this Skinn Olive and Enzyme Cleanser for how smooth and clean, (but not dry and tight),feels.

Jane...that's why I stopped using scrubs using these plastic beads. I'm not a 100% certain but I believe that the EU banned products infusing plastic beads in skincare products. I'm big on enzyme peels and the traditional topical exfoliators.Thank you for posting the deets and giving further background. 😘😘

I love Olay Pro-x Nightly Micropeel. It gives impressive results and is affordable. It also pairs well with my C and Retinoid.

@Shelley, they're banned in NYS.
