Hey there Rochelle,
I have been a color consultant at Sephora, and I've worked there as a freelance for Bare Escentuals. Sephora has a hierachy of make up artists. There are color consultants--which will be you. You will not be asked to perform make up appointments, and youwon't even be allowed to put on lashes. You must be certified for these things. So definitely emphasize a desire to be certified. However you will be walking the floor, so there will definitely be times you do a full face, or a nice set of eyes. At Sephora you will meet freelance artists. Use them to your advantage. While their there, and they have a second, ask them about their products. I've been a freelance for a couple lines, and I loved when people asked. There are so many little things I want people to know about my brand. And sometimes, I know I did, they will reward people who refer customers to their brand and sell their brand. This will help you get to learn every brand. And don't be embarrassed to tell the client you've never used a product. You'll end up lying, and stumbling over yourself. And if there is a product you're curious, don't be shy to ask a client if you can try something out on them. I used to do this with new products I wanted to try. The last thing I'll recommend is saying your name to the client a million and one times. Introduce yourself, mention it again in the middle, and at the end reintroduce yourself and tell them about the survey they can take to help you out. Surveys are important to Sephora, and it tells them how well you're interacting with clients.

I worked at the one in San Francisco, and we had to be. It might've been because we were the flagship store.
