If your hair is falling out more than usual & it's enough to worry you, see your doctor. you could have a deficiency or something.

Do not put cinnamon oil on the skin! Honestly do you people even think about what you are recommending when you post this?? Cinnamon is one of the strongest chemical irritants you can buy, DO NOT USE IT ON YOUR SKIN. PERIOD. It has NO benefit, at all, ever. The nasty resulting burns are bad news. The only reason it gets used in some products (which it really shouldn't be anyway) is because in HIGHLY diluted concentrations it can cause mild irritation and plump the skin and lips. This is inflammation, and is your body fighting to repair damage at a cellular level. Seriously, leave the cinnamon for baking. Sorry for sounding so harsh but this is getting ridiculous. This DIY home remedy crap needs to stop before someone gets seriously injured.

On topic: sudden increase in hair fall can be a symptom of many issues ranging in severity from hormone fluctuations to chronic illness. It is best to see a doctor for an exam and a blood work up, to rule out any serious issues.

If that comes back clear, it could be nutritional. Eat a healthy, balanced diet and stay hydrated.

For general hair health, avoid tightly-pulled styles, over brushing, heat styling, and damaging processes that can lead to breakage and fall.

@Selia: don't take prenatals when you aren't pregnant. The hair loss after pregnancy is normal. During pregnancy, hair doesn't fall out as much as it normally does, so when it does start falling after birth it seems very dramatic. Talk to your doctor, but don't take any pills. Prenatal vitamins are very high in folic acid, and too much can actually make you very ill.

I forgot to mention: don't start taking a bunch of supplements/vitamins without first talking to a doctor. Things like biotin (which someone eventually ALWAYS recommends on this site) are designed for people with a deficiency. If you are eating an adequate diet (even if it isn't particularly healthy), you most likely don't need any additional biotin (the component in the "hair, skin, and nail" pills). Overdosing on supplements will do one of two things: nothing, as your body eliminates the excess through your kidneys, or cause side effects ranging from acne to serious system failure. Either you flush your money down the drain with vitamin-enriched urine, or you end up with a problem that is much more expensive and difficult to fix (such as kidney failure). This applies to all supplements, not just biotin. I single out biotin because people insist on recommending it for everything without knowing how dangerous that can be.

Personally, my hair falls out more than normal when I am overly stressed. You should consult with your doctor or dermatologist though. It could be a combination of things.
