Due to the recent weather change, my lips have completely gone dry and started cracking <\3 Can anyone give me some ideas on how to restore my naturally smooth lips? Store bought products are ok but I'd prefer a DIY product. Thank you in advance Lovelies? xxx

I'm not a fan of baby lips, does nothing for me. But that might just be me. I suggest Burts Bees chapstick.. very moisturizing.

Try mixing a teaspoon of sugar in a teaspoon of honey..stir just until incorporated.. Then gently scrub into your lips and let it sit for 3 mins.. Wash it out then apply your lip balm..honey will moisturise and the sugar will exfoliate :)

Oh me too!😩 I can't use any drugstore lip products without having drier lips, or a bad reaction. Burt's Bees and Chapstick are the worst for me! Many of those have alcohol, and just make things worse. Oddly, the Eos ball lip balm I can use just fine! But I really suggest getting coconut oil, I make a paste by putting a little coconut oil on my fingertip, sprinkle with sugar and then scrub. It really gets the dry skin without damaging the new, and leaves you super soft and conditioned! I will go by the cabinet and throw some on whenever I need it, but it lasts! I prefer the expeller pressed because it stays liquid when cold and isn't so fatty. I also use it to remove mascara and tough makeup, and it conditions lashes too! Here's the one I use, it's cheap and the bottle last forever too!!😘 Nature's Way Coconut Oil Liquid 10 oz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008YQKZ3O/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_eYKvub04TAYR7.

What's important to remember when choosing a chapstick is that ingredients like petrolatum or petroleum jelly will NOT moisturize your lips. If they are the first or main ingredient of a given chapstick, it will not work to moisturize your lips, but it will create a barrier and seal in any moisture that is already there, while keeping out any other moisture that could possibly help your lips. Chapsticks that are actually good for your lips and will help are:
-Nuxe Reve de Miel, it's a really great, super thick formula that I normally use before I go to bed or if I have intensely chapped lips. It's really great, because it's more of a matte texture, and it doesn't make your lips feel slippery or shiny. It also works well lightly underneath lipsticks.
-ILIA Balmy Days: it's also wonderful. It's super moisturizing, but a very shiny finish. It has a really great texture, it's nice and thin which I think is good for every day use, and it's okay to reapply often.
-Marc Jacobs Lip Lock lip balm, it's really nice. It's a medium sort of thickness, and it's definitely shiny, but it stays on for a nice amount of time so you don't have to be constantly reapplying.
-Fresh Sugar Lip Balms are amazing. They're petroleum free, they come in a wide variety of natural looking tints, the only thing I now don't like is that they have a lot of slip to them. That works for some people, but recently I've gotten to the point where I dislike the feeling of my lips sliding together. This is really a wonderful lip balm, it's just not my favorite texture right now.
All of these are great and I'd be happy to recommend any others in case those don't work for you, or if you'd just like more suggestions.

The Nivea lip butter and the Burts Bees lip balm are both really good. They are also really inexpensive and can be found at the drugstore.

Hannah that's so helpful! Do you know what might be the "bad" in some of the drugstore lip products? This may be TMI, but last Summer I had to have a shade of the Maybelline Vivids, it was so pretty- but literally the entire surface of my lips shed completely by the next day. It was awful. Plus, I loved the color, lol! I've never found the issue ingredient, I'm okay with Neutrogena, NyX, and Milani. I love your product recommendations, I can't wait to try them!!

No problem, Erica! Honestly, I'm not quite sure, especially as different people have different reactions to different ingredients. That hasn't happened to me in a while, but the last time it did, I believe it was because of a really waxy chapstick. That's just me, things high in waxes will cause my lips to freak out and shed. Glad you appreciate the recommendations, I know they're all really high end but personally that's just what works for me. I hope you like them too! I'd also be willing to help you find a good dupe, if you tell me which shade it was =)

In addition to treating my lips with nice lip balms, I also exfoliate them gently. As I'm brushing my teeth I gently scrub them in a circular motion to get the dead skin off. (I usually don't have a problem with the toothpaste but if you use one that is very strong or minty your lips might burn.) I love to do this before bed so my lips are nice and smooth to put my Chapstick over! I love Nivea touch of smoothness and burts bees pomegranate. EOS is a no no for me though, it makes my lips harden and peel just like yours. Baby lips has done the same. Good luck healing your lips, remember not to lick them!

I swear by my Vaseline lip therapy! I use it daily and the best and cheap drugstore product. It softens and soothes my lips. Not just coats but repairs dry and chapped lips. On cold season I tend to get dry and chapped lips. But ever since I use this, my lips is soft and smooth. And to be honest, I had countless of empty bottles. That's how I love my lip therapy. This is my opinion. And to each is own. Goodluck. 😘
