Unwanted facial hair on a client??

Hi guys! I am a aspiring Mua, I'm currently working in exchange for pictures for my portfolio. I had my first client just the other day. The client was well aware of our upcoming appt as I keept in close touch. I show up, set up and start work. The next thing I know the client starts to complain that I haven't cleaned up her brows, snatches a pair of tweezers and a mirror off of the table and starts doing it herself. I was confused. I mean this woman knew days in advance about or upcoming appt. Shouldn't she have done them herself or made other arrangements?

Personally I feel as if my job is to show up and apply the makeup, leaving the customer feeling happy and beautiful. I am not a salon service. I apply makeup and strictly makeup. What if I go in tweezing when the client likes waxing?
What if I take out too much or remove the wrong hairs? I feel like so much can go wrong with a persons brows.
Im not expected to know how someone likes their brows to be/hair removing wise. *Please feel free to give advice facial hair in general*

Am I right or wrong?
What should I be doing? What do I do next time?
What do you guys do? Clean up or work around?

I don't think you should be permanently altering the body in any way without license, right? I think you're right! I would communicate your role as a makeup artist and not an esthetician and explain the difference:)

You were not wrong at all. Ofcourse your client should have got the hair removed beforehand, its not your job. This is like asking an IT engineer to fix your computer before they start coding for software on it. By no means am I suggesting that fixing the computer is trivial, its just somebody else's job. The next time you take up a client, remind them politely 2 days in advance on the phone that they could finish their pending salon/spa visits if any, so that they're well prepared for the makeup appointment.

@Winnie: Good point. I actually did say: I'm a makeup artist NOT an esthetician, after I snapped out of my confusion, lol.

@Ame: I will use your advice about the 2 day reminder next time :)

Thanks so much for helping me out with this girls!

Well put ame, I think your client was misinformed about what your job was. I've had professional makeup applied before & never once had my eyebrows touched (except to fill them in) & as a client, I'd never imply they be done.

@Janette: That's when she complained, I started to fix the mess that was her brows by filling them in w/ a mix of 2 eyeshadows, handed her a mirror to ask I she liked where I was going w/them then the above happened.

So glad I've asked on here and found out I was in the right :)
Now I'm prepared if this happens again.

She also wanted her brows trimmed as they were very long and plucked, but not filled in/makeup applied.

She really thought I was a salon brow service :D
