I just tried to do a cat eye using gel liner and was far from being successful. What liquid liners work for you and what would you suggest? Looking for an inky black and a shimmering dark purple. Any suggestions are highly appreciated. Thank you. :)

MAC makes a felt-tipped liner pen called the Penultimate eyeliner pen. I absolutely adore mine! Not sure that it comes in maybe colors though.
Physician's Formula (drugstore brand) also has a similar eyeliner pen called the Last Boosting Eyeliner pen with a brush style tip. I don't really buy into the 'lash boosting' thing, but it works like a dream!
Also, if you're looking for color, I just bought a MUFE Aqua Liner, and it is ASTOUNDING! I got mine in a beautiful red shade, and they have tons of shades to choose from!

I went through this Amy Winehouse wannabe stage and went through all sorts of liners. Fluidline transfered mid day and was too soft. MUFE Aqua Black dried out on me and balled up. MAC Penultimate was not waterproof and it transferred, sometimes product would also dry up. The MIGI liners are similar in packaging but do not transfer, it's super black too. I used to use Tartes indellible wink in the darkest black, I can't find it anymore so I guess it's discontinued. I loved it because it was waterproof and transferproof. It also came in the metallic plum you were looking for. Ever since I couldn't replace my Tarte liner, I've been on the hunt for the ONE. MAC came out with Superslick Liquid Liner, I use On The Hunt which is super black. It doesn't transfer and it is waterproof. I like the spongetip applicator too. They also come in colors and the shimmering dark purple shade is called Smoky Heir. It's super easy to use. I don't know why it doesn't get much attention though. Since the release of the Superslick liner, other brands have launched their counterparts such as MUFE and Stila. I do not own any of those but I've played around with them at Sephora, it feels like the quality and consistency is the same. MUFE has sooo many colors.

Thank you sooo much Carmella P. and Victoria D. for the leads. I will definitely check them all out. :)

As for drugstore products, I like NYC & Wet n Wild's liquid liner. I also like Jordana's felt tip liner pen.

Great Advice Carmella

I normally dont like liquid liners cuz they make a mess or I some how manage to make it a mess lol. But ever since I bought and tried Loreal Paris Lineur intense liquid liner in carbon black 2x I'm totally in love with it. It's felt tip makes it so easy to use and its not messy at all, and super black. I defiantly recommend it.

I really like Wet n Wild Creme Eyeliner, and ULTA Extreme Wear Gel Eyeliner. Both are nicely pigmented, creamy, and long-wearing, though ULTA has a wider shade selection.

If you decide gel totally isn't for you, Hard Candy makes a great felt tip eyeliner called Stroke of Gorgeous - it's incredibly precise, pigmented, and also long-wearing. Great for beginners!

Physician's Formula 2-1 eye/lash boosting liner pen! So easy to use, nice brush tip applicator, and easily found in drugstores. Nicely pigmented and sets fast too!

As for your gel liner application, did you try using an angled brush or pointed brush? Sometimes, people have a preference for one over the other, so switch it up if you haven't already!

OMG!!! All of you just totally rock!! Thank you for giving me detailed info about this. I appreciate it sooooo much. Seeing the responses has totally made my day. I'm sorry for getting all super emotional but I'm totally enjoying my adventures in make-up and I can't wait till I can get my camera lighting just right so I can show everyone all the tips and looks I've picked up over the past few months besides my simple "get out the house" looks. :)

I just bought the new Cover Girl 24hr felt tip liquid liner, and I love it! I know everyone loves L'Oreal's Lineur Intense, and I did really like the ease of use with it, but I found that it bled. So far, I haven't experienced any of that with the CG.

Well drugstore wise, I love Maybelline's Line Stiletto Liquid Eyeliner. I almost love it more than the high end makeup brands. It's affordable, and the felt tip makes an easy application. Also it doesn't dry up or crack and it lasts all day and comes off easily.

High end wise, I like the Too-Faced Metal-Eyed liner. It's super pigmented and goes on good. I love the thin brush applicator as well. However, sometimes it irritates my eyes, I think my skin doesn't react well with it, so sadly I don't use it that often as I'd like.

Physician's Formula Liquid liner is so nice because it's brush is precise enough so you can achieve a cat eye. But a better one is from Dolly Wink which is a Japanese brand. For the blackest black, I really like Revlon ColorStay and Lancome Artliner. :)

Love my givenchy liquid liner and mac liquidlast liner. Mufe aqua liner made my eyes swollen so anyone who has very sensitive eyes try to avoid it. MAybe the glitter in it doesn't agree with my eyes...

Last night I practiced my cat eye application. The hubby had fun laughing at the disaster I created on my face. I literally went crazy and had bought numerous liners per everyone's suggestions. After the 10th go around I wised up and used a slanted brush to create a fine, faint line in which I followed with the liquid liner. It was a big help but will do further practicing later tonight to get that perfect cat eye. Ok, the liners that have become my fave so far are...Physicians Formula, MAC Penultimate, Wet'n"Wild Mega Liner and Stila. Practice makes perfect. :)

Maybelline Line Stiletto is a felt tip pen that makes the application MUCH easier!! And it's cheap!!! Good luck! Once u perfect your cat-eye you'll do it everyday! haha

Glad you liked the PF liner! Tip: I use the side/belly of the brush tip horizontally to get a fine line vs focusing on using the tip of the brush. Hope that helps!
