Just a general question to makeup. At the end of the day, would you still pick high end brand names to drugstore or no name makeup even if the lower end has the same or better effect?

Depends on the animal testing and most drugstore brands test, so.... probably sticking with the high end since I've had better luck.

If it's exactly the same - as in quality and doesn't break me out, etc then yes, I'd buy the cheaper version. But high end products are generally a LOT better with my skin and I prefer the pigmentation of higher end eyeshadows and blushes (especially because usually high end products last MUCH longer and are therefore more bang for your buck)

My personal opinion...If you're talented enough to make anything work then it shouldnt matter what brand it is.

in my opinion sometimes it does matter bc there are drugstore brands that do work and then there are some that wont come out with a great pigmentation as other brands or have some ingredients that are as great as other products. but i do love drugstore mascara's, lipglosses and some eye shadows such as maybelline, loreal, physicians formula, garnier BB cream and makeup but at the same time i love makeup forever Foundation bc it blends like no other, nars blush bc it really does work with all skin tones and works amazingly, mac shadows, primed and poreless primer goes on silky smooth

Thanks everyone! Yeah, I both love drugstore and high end brands. I recently bought 2 lipsticks that were said to be Anne Hathaway's lip color on this month's Allure cover. I compared Chanel and Maybelline and there is a HUGE difference!!!

It doesn't matter to me. As long as it has very good quality & doesn't break me out I'm good.

The only time it matters is with eyeshadow because the cheap kinds don't stay on all day and they don't blend as well

I am a huge brand whore when it comes to makeup.

I think Brand names even they are inexpensive they are trust names for us to buy them but of course expensive or inexpensive brand names sometimes have good stuff or horrible stuff so you must ask first before you any product :)

For me personally I've just had more luck with high-end than I have with inexpensive. Though I have had some terrible misses with high-end. Its all about researching what you have your eye on. I love a great mascara and I'm glad I can always find one in the high end category and the inexpensive.

Like with anything a brand name is a brand name whether in clothing, cooking products, beverages, or make up. It all depends on how you look at it, I absolutely love some of my high end make up, and still I have $2 stuff I love as well. You can make any look work with out having the high end stuff. Its a yes and no question, yes the quality and out come can be so worth the price and no sometimes you spend $30 on a lipstick that sucks. I would say research the product before you buy it. Good luck searching!!

If it has the exact same effects that I look for in makeup, I don't care if it's high end or not - I just want my face to look pretty! Isn't that what the goal is at the end of the day?
I know I wish I could find a $8 foundation that works like my $30 one

I myself prefer high end foundation because it lasts longer and i feel it blends really well. I use the stuff from Sephora, its called HD something or other lol but its most definitely worth the $50 i paid for it. In terms of mascaras and eye liners, i just use the stuff from the drugstore cuz it works fine for me. All depends on what works with your skin, personal reasons etc. I would just recommend looking into the products before you buy them :)

I do agree with the foundations. I tried the Covergirl liquid foundation and it was soooo bad! I went for the Hello Flawless Oxygen instead and it's pretty awesome. :)

The brand does not make anything a "must" for me. Knowing that it works does. If I've had good luck with brands in the past, I'm more likely to come back for more. For example, I'm picky with lipsticks because a lot of tastes and scents bother me. I hate NYX round lipsticks for that reason and a few others [mainly drugstore]. I like MAC lipsticks for their vanilla scents as well as their wear.

To me all that matters is what works best. Regaurdless of name or popularity but with that being said I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for and most of the time thats right.

I personally dont believe brand names matter.... its really just the popularity of the product you are paying for.

I've found that no matter if it's a good brand, like Clinique - their products are so toxic! Even The Body Shop products contain a lot of chemicals(they've been bought by Loreal, so..).
The best products are natural, my favourite is coconut oil.
But yes, there still are some great toxical products, that I couldn't change by anything natural. YET. :)

i do not own alot of high end makeup i own alot of drug store makeup i just dont see how some one could spend 60.00s on say naked palette im sure you can find better and cheaper palettes that does the same i wold love to own a naked palette but i am not going to spend 60.00s on a palette people pay for the high end bc they thank it is better but in life there are some high end that i have heard that is not any good i do drug store i love my drugstore

The names themselves don't matter, but I've found from past experience that brand names do work better. You get what you pay for

doesn't matter the name, price, etc. you can use any product for anything (like eyeshadow for highlight or lip liner for eyebrows). personally i love nyx for my eyebrows, mac for my bases, maybelline for my lipsticks and liquid eyeliners, and urban decay for my eyeshadows. depends on the person, the product, and the way you use it!

To me, brand names don't matter. I use whatever works on me, looks good on me and won't irritate my skin. I'm not that picky that i have to buy a certain brand all the time, i like trying different brands.
