Do it all the time and it works like a charm as a spray! Cheap too! I use 70% isopropyl because it is the most effective at killing germs. You would think it would be 91% but it's not because that works too quick and doesn't have the time to denature the cell walls properly. :) I'm a germs-a-phone lol
Keep in mind that disinfecting and sanitizing are two different things ;)
A Disinfectant is a product which completely destroys all specific test organisms in 10 minutes. A Sanitizer is a product which destroys 99.999% of specified test bacteria in 30 seconds.
Yes, alcohol evaporates quickly enough that it won't ruin your powder products. I have been doing it for years and my face powders and eye shadows still have their usual consistency and work just as well. Plus I know I am not rebrushing oils and dirt back onto my face!
WHOAAA LADIES!!! lol I would recommend using 99% it less water in the solution and you should ALWAYS disinfect if you using it on clients!!! Then in between disinfecting ( when you have the time) wash your brushes with shampoo and conditioner. You will prolong the life of your brushes and makeup will not be damanged by the excess water found in the other alcohols!!! xoxox muah
P.S. I know its easier and cheaper to find the other ones but save yourself the trouble and stock up on the good stuff!!! Its only 4 dollars a little bottle at ALCONE. Put it in a dollar store spray bottle and it will carry you a while :)
Another alternative is ethyl alcohol which is probably better known as Vodka. Ethyl alcohol is a grain alcohol and it's one of the ingredients in Beauty So Clean.
Beauty so clean will work better than 70% alcohol. Over time you will find that rubbing alcohol will dry out your products and you'll be forced to toss them sooner. You shouldn't use rubbing alcohol on powders or natural brushes but it is essential to your kit with sanitizing metals such as sharpeners, tweezers, scissors, trays, pallets, and even your hands.
If you are using alcohol my will the resdue of the alcohlo irritate the clients face. I worry about around the eyes. Sometimes there is a very short time in between clients. Will it be safe to use.

Brandy, oh whoops. Sorry, I didn't know there was a difference :) Would you recommend disinfecting makeup and brushes or sanitizing them?

Won't it ruin your powder to spray something in liquid form on them? Or because it evaporates quickly does it not damage the powders?
