I happen to love the way black lipstick looks, but only with minimal makeup. Cakey foundation, crazy eye makeup, and bold blush, and bronzer is too overwhelming for my eyes. With the black lips being the focus point is very artsy and daring. I love it, I want to wear it to school soon, but I know everyones going to freak out!

I like the high fashion look of black lips but honestly I wouldn't wear it for everyday, that's just me. I think cyber by mac is a nice was to build up to black, its a deep dark purple and can be applied very dark, it might be a good colour to have as is a bit more everyday friendly but is dark and can be built up and if your not completely sold on black... might be a good way to go.

Lou gave you a great option with Cyber. It can be built to near black, so you will get a similar effect, but it's purple so it's better.
If you wear the black, I feel you must carefully plan your outfit...you wanna plan the entire look so it won't come off as something you weren't actually going for...like the grunge look.
If you think black is too much, try mufe #49 with the same basic look everywhere else....it's one of the deepest colors without being black and people stop me to ask what it is when I wear it....if you can forget what everyone else thinks and rock at the black lip/bare face at school...do it :)

and @ Kelly G - Idiot goth kids who don't know better? Sorry but it seems like you don't know any better...To say a lipstick is only for an entire grouping of people is silly. Black lipstick can be very fashionable and look absolutely stunning when pulled off correctly.
Personally I wouldn't do it but that's just because I don't think it looks good on me :) If you want to do it, why not? It's your face, paint it whatever color you want!!!

Everyone is high school freaks out about everything so I wouldn't worry about that too much. ;) I would love to see a picture of what you do with it!
