Hey guys! I was wondering if anyone knew of any good salons you can recommend in San Diego, California? Right now my hair is just black. I used a box dye and I wanted to get in some highlights. I don't want to try doing it myself though and would rather go to the salon to get it done. I want a good salon where the dye will last! Last time which was a few years ago I went to a salon nearby to get red highlights. It didn't even last a week. I was really upset about that. Now I want to try again but this time I want the color to be more of a caramel brown maybe.
I'm in the National City area and I'm willing to go more up north but the farthest I'm willing to go would be around Carmel Valley. Though the closer the better :)

I'd recommend looking at a site like Yelp or asking around friends/ relatives for suggestions.

I agree with Rebecca! Definitely check out artist portfolios too, most of them display their work on social media, I find instagram is most popular. I don't know any salons in that area as I'm from another country (England!), but definitely search up 'Hair salons in San Diego'

Hi Sarah, I'm on the same boat as you lol I'm also looking for a good salon here in San Diego. I was looking into House of Hair addiction in Chula vista and thinking of giving them a try.
I use to get my hair done in the salon in the Bonita mall but sadly the lady no longer works there. I get so nervous looking for the right salon.

Yelp is so fantastic. In addition to reviews, there are often photos. If you see a review that you want more info on, either positive or negative, you can hit up the writer and they are usually really helpful. After narrowing down reviews on Yelp, Google and Foursquare, it's a good idea to check both the webpage, IG, Twitter, Facebook, etc. for photos of their work. I'd also read through the comments.

I'd look for a Floyds 99. I have friends that work at a couple locations here and I know their shops have master colorists and master stylists. I've had cuts and colors there when my own stylist was traveling. They use Paul Mitchell products, which I'm a Pravana fan, but they are well-trained in the line.
They are Nationwide with a rock and roll vibe.

I'd go with a master level peep myself.

Check Yelp first! lol They do some edgy styles and it's always fun. I can only speak from my own past experience with friends who work/worked there, and were Masters, but I dig the vibe and it's worth looking into. My stylist is back now, Thank God. It's tough to get great hair. ;)
(I'm not currently using Floyds, but I do trust their Masters)

Good luck!
