Do any of you dry skin girls use a serum during the day before applying makeup? I used to use the Philosophy back to nurture serum and I loved it but it's a bit expensive, so I was wondering if there's any dupes out there. So let me know if you use and which ones! Thanks.

I'm also wondering the same thing actually, I hope you don't mind me tagging along with the thread haha.

I use a Skinceuticals brand but it is also expensive.

Tarte maracuja oil had literally changed my life. It's expensive but so worth it. I've always had super dry skin and you can't even tell. I use it to prevent razor burn and it even got rid of some weird rash I had that wouldn't go away lmao. It lasts forever since you don't need to use much, so it seriously is worth it for me. I could go on and on lmao.

Samantha, May I ask what is the main reason you use a serum? Is it only for moisterizing benefits or also something else?

Question what does the serum do? I usually just moisterize but I'd do anything to get my face more smoother and better , I tried the Tarte oil Kat is talking about but I notice it started to break me out which I heard so many good things about it but not everyone's skin takes products as well as most of the good reviews.

The main reason is for moisturizing, since it's winter and I have dry skin, but I know that most serums have added benefits also so that's great too. But I don't want one thats too heavy or greasy feeling because I want to put it under my makeup. And Star, its amazing if you have really dry skin, and over time it will improve your skin, atm I use argan oil at night, and it definitely makes my skin softer and smoother and over time it reduces my marks. However that one is too heavy to use under my makeup.

Samantha, I suggest you try the new Smashbox Oil Primer. Moisterizer and provides a smooth canvas for makeup application. But, honestly, I don't have a problem with makeup wearing off in the first place, so I can't vouch for makeup longevity. All I can say is that my makeup still lasts as long as it did, but now I have a dewier finish all day long (which I like). You can check out the reviews on youtube (mostly positive). It is pricey 42.00, but they say you can use it day and night as you would any other facial oil. I suggest getting a sample first. It is for dry to extremely dry skin and will sink into the skin in a few minutes as long as you follow the directions of 2 drops only (although I use 3, with no problem). Then you can apply your makeup.
