'Mess up your hair'. By that I mean pre styling, run your fingers through your hair like if your scratching it wildly - not using nails though. I have very voluminous hair already though so it may not work for fine hair...hm. If you do have fine hair hairspray upside down and proceed with this "trick".

Dry shampoo, volumizing hair spray, hair mousse. Just look for products that specifically say volumizing on them.

Also for blow drying use a round brush start at the root and push the brush upwards with your blow dryer on top of it (if you watch your stylist they usually dry hair this way too) I find it really adds a lot of volume especially if you use like a concentrating blow dryer accessory to concentrate all the heat in that one spot - otherwise if you are more of a natural drying person try a volumizing mousse while wet that works well too.

Well if you look at my profile pics you can tell that I have a lot of volume in my hair. People always ask how I get it this way and its mainly just how I get my hair cut. I have them cut my tops layers (layers are definitely a must) really short and I have my stylist "thin" it out on top. When I get my hair cut like this I don't even have to tease my hair. When it starts getting longer and heavy I blow dry my top layers first by holding them up (hope this makes sense) and then I flip my hair over and blow dry all over. Once I'm done styling I tease my hair with a teasing comb which I buy at Sally Beauty (youtube videos helped me a lot on 'how to' tease my hair). As far as products go, dry shampoos never worked for me but I know a lot of people who have great luck with it. I use Herbal Essence Volumizing Hairspray. Got2B makes a really great volumizing powder (its very waxy though which is odd because its a powder so you only need a little bit or it will make your hair look greasy. Also wetting (I shampoo every other day or when needed I'll do it more but everyones different about this) my hair helps give me volume. If I go to bed and wake up without wetting my hair in the shower then my hair is soooo flat.

Big sexy hair has a product called "what a tease" and it actually gives the hair a teased look without all the work and damage yikes! It is amazing and on sale at Ulta for $11 this week usually $20!
