I like the la roche posay extra light formula. They do a formula for face and a separate one for body. Both are really nice.

I'd recommend the Ambre Solaire factor 50+ sunblock. It blocks UVA and UVB rays and is extremely effective. It leaves no grease or residue on the skin. I work in a nursery and we use this on our 2 year olds :)

I like Coppertone. Mostly because of the scent. Does anyone else think it's nostalgic?

Anything above 50SPF is technically considered maxed out and useless, a lot of countries don't even allow companies to advertise performance above 50SPF as it has been found false. 80% of commercial sunscreens contain oxybenzone, “a hormone-disrupting sunscreen filter” and 33% contain retinyl palmitate, “a form of vitamin A linked to skin damage”. Here's another fun common ingredient. Oxybenzone is part of a class of aromatic ketones called benzophenones and is used in many sunscreens, hair sprays, cosmetics and nail polishes. It is also used in plastics to absorb ultraviolet light. With its use in sunscreen as a broad-spectrum UVB and and short-wave UVA protector, it is acts as a endocrine disruptor. Endocrine disruptors interfere with the hormone system, potentially causing cancer, birth defects and developmental disorders. If you look at the effects of oxybenzone on juvenile rainbow trout those samples exposed to the ketone produced a decreased number of eggs, a smaller percentage of fertilized eggs and a smaller percentage of hatched eggs. Oxybenzone acts like estrogen in the body and alters sperm production in males. It is also associated with endometriosis in women and may cause fertility problems. Oxybenzone is also detected in nearly every American and found in mothers’ milk.Retinyl palmitate is a form of vitamin A used in sunscreens and has been found to accelerate cancer in high doses applied. A You.S. gstudy found that it “may speed the development of skin tumors and lesions when applied to the skin in the presence of sunlight.”
Vitamin A, or Retinol, is also used in many skin products that promise to slow the signs of aging, but it's mostly a controversy as an ingredient in sunscreen is due to its effects when exposed to sunlight. The harmful effects of retinyl palmitate include brittle nails, hair loss, liver damage, osteoporosis. Some health autheorities have also suggested for women pregnant or breastfeeding to avoid any products with vitamin A due to the skeletal birth defects it may cause.

I love how arbonne is on the best I LOVE arbonne sunscreen, they have (or had this was years ago) a safe sun line with sunscreen, spray tan, tan enhancer, after sun lotion and lip saver. The sunscreen was an spf of 25, self tanner and tan enhancer was SPF 15 lip saver was spf 10. The after sun lotion was AMAZING! The whole line up was good!

Also, I don't typically use sunscreen on me or my kids. I will if camping in which case I'll use the arbonne abc baby care line with that sunscreen of an SPF 30 other than that is nada we just avoid outside during the hours of 11-3 when the sun is at its highest and if we do go out we do so in short spurts. Judge my parenting but I've always heard nasty things about sunscreen and I've never been fond of the slimy feeling once you get wet with the sunscreen on.

Wow Brittany that was really informative - I personally already knew about the dangers of products in sunscreen but this list of best sunscreens is very helpful - thanks for all that info!

Yeah its always great to educate yourselves of what you're putting on your bodies especially when it's something people use so often!

I use Neutrogena for both. The face one is supposed to not break you out...so far so good and the body one I use is the one in the yellow bottle. It's meant to not to come off in water or from sweat.

I use ambre solataire SPF 15 for body and the body shop vit c with SPF 30 for face :)
