Please do not put lemon on your skin.

Do you know the cause of the darkness?

Please don't use lemon on your skin. It's terrible. I would go see a dermatologist. It may not seem like anything but it's actually a sign of multiple health problems.

Its not umcommon. I'm a mix of Puerto Rican and African American and I have just a faint area of darkness on my neck. Had since I was a kid...very common occurrence. To ward off further darkening I just stay on top of sunscreen application and from time to time I'll use a brightening vitamin c mask.

Don't use lemon. It is very damaging to the skin. I agree with Shanae. Darkness on the back of the neck can be signs of multiple health problems. I usually like to do some research and write a list of side effects. This can help a dermatologist/doctor to determine what exactly is the cause of the darkness!

I'd definitely follow Shelley's advice. And exfoliate.

I have the same problem. And like Shelley it's been an issue since childhood. I've had great results using Aloe Vera. Use a thick coating of the gel and leave it overnight. Over time it does help in fading the darkness and yes, sunscreen during the day helps a lot too in the long run.

If you really want to use lemon then just be careful to dilute it and don't leave it on the skin longer than 5-10 minutes - be sure to wash it off completely and always use SPF when going out - I agree with Shelley though a vitamin c serum or cream will probably give better results - also try exfoliating the area (which like a sugar scrub) and moisturizing - I have a similar problem with dark hair in my armpits and I notice it goes away or lightens up if I just exfoliate and moisturize the area.

It can be genetic (harmless), or a sign of health issues including the onset of diabetes, thyroid problems, and certain cancers. I would see a doctor first just to rule out any health issues, then once you know for sure you can focus on getting rid of it.

DO NOT USE LEMON. It's super harsh on your skin and can cause problems further on. I'd talk with your dermatologist, but for the time being, use makeup to lighten it.

I agree with Diana if you dilute it with any other product you'll be fine. So many product's have Lemon in it but it's controlled and be smart about the amount, the mixture is like one little drop into it not a whole lemon on it's own slapped on the spot lol.Just a fyi if you use Lorac well it goes against what your saying because they have lemon extract in the face product's so, it's not so bad now right. ;) Also Almay and some other's.
