Let's talk about blush?

So lately I've been on a blush rampage, turning every relatively red or pink cosmetic item I own into a cheek tint. I've noticed everyone wears blush in different ways, some just dabbing some on the apples of their cheeks and some just apply it to their entire face (me sometimes).
Normally, I wear it like this (woo picture) and enjoy an intense wash of color and shimmer.

1. How do you apply your blush?
2. Where do you apply it? Just the apples or all along the cheekbones?
3. Any blush recommendations?

Also, the makeup I have on:
Stay Matte Primer
Boots Stay Perfect Primer
Revlon Colorstay for Combo/Oily
Elf HD powder
A homemade cheek shimmer (basically just white mica and red mica mixed)

Aaaaaand the whole face (it was backwards day at work, I promise I don't always dress that way)

I apply my blush with the Real Techniques Contour Brush

I apply it to the apples, along the cheekbone, and a bit on my temples/next to my eyebrow.

My favorite blush that I use every time I wear makeup is MAC Mineralize Blush in Warm Soul. Gives me a soft amount of color without being too pink or red (:

I looove blush as well - just complets any look perfectly!

I apply my blush with a big fluffy powder brush or a smaller elf blush brush. I always apply it aling my cheekbones - and only there - then I top it of with a bit of highlight on be cheekbone.

My favorit blush is Angel by Nyx, it just matches my skintone perfetcly! But if I could get my hands on Tarte blushes in my country I would go crazy!! I think their blushes look so absolutly beautiful!

1. I apply it with a big fluffy fan brush (just because it picks up less product as my blushes are super pigmented and I don't want to look like a clown.

2. I apply my blush on my upper cheeks, keeping it nice and diffused, or right on the high points and across my nose for an "almost sunburned but still cute" effect! Unless you're 12, I don't recommend putting blush on while smiling... at least on me it looks dreadful: I go back to my "serious" face and it looks like I have blush in the middle of my face... it's always best to lift up when you need it!

3. My favorite blushes are Nars in exhibit A (super bright in-your-face matte red) and Gilda (matte pinky peach). I also LOVE Cha Cha Tint by Benefit, you need to be super fast when applying it but it gives you such a pretty inner glow!
I've also been eyeing Nars in Gaiety: it might be a bit too light for me, I have yet to try it in store but it looks like such a pretty pink to perk up tired skin!

I apply two fingers away from the corner of the nose with a very small brush about the size of the kevyn Aucoin contour brush or Tiny Kabuki brush versus using a actual blush brush because every face shape is different and this helps give the right balance of application of blush. I only apply the blush color pay off at the apples of the cheeks and fade with out pulling it to the temples because it starts to take away from the lift of the cheek which blush helps create.

It sounds like I need a big fluffy brush in my collection! -insert heart eyes here-

And Breeze, I hate the whole smiling thing when applying makeup with my face shape, I have the same problem. And it just looks like two little ovals.

And Alma, with my face shape, I totally pull everything to my temple because it seriously slims down the baby face, hahaha.

I understand Maria lol but That's why you use the sister product's to help in that area, any of your choosing contour,Bronze,Highlight you build the shape when you want to higher the lift or shape to the face,When pulling to much to the temple it can actually give a feline wider look to the face versus slimming. :)

1 - with the Real Techniques blush brush.
2 - Around the same area as you, on the apples of my cheeks and slightly up my cheekbones.
3 - I use L'Oreal Le Blush in 120 and it is a lovely pink with a tiny shimmer for highlighting.

Ooo thank you Alma, I'll remember it the next time I'm shopping!

And I love the blush brush.

I use my BareMinerals flawless face brush and Technic blush in 1924 :) I do an extreme pout where I pull my cheeks in like a fish and apply to my cheekbones:) I then do a dusting of matte powder (I love matte pink blush but haven't found one I like yet!) and apply my baked highlighter over the top :)

You look wonderful! :) What a pretty color for your face.

I use the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 hr blushes (Glisten and Dazzled are my HG colors). I also love the Benefit boxed blushes, particularly Dandelion & Hervana. But I have found that Milani Baked Blushes & NYX powders (Pinched is a dead ringer for Nars Orgasm) are very very comparable in quality to all high-end blushes I've tried :) I'm quite pale, with blue eyes and the blush colors I mentioned above work so so well for me! :D

I apply with an EcoTools tapered blush brush or a Bare Minerals angled blush brush while smiling into the mirror & typically on the apples of my cheeks. I'm not much for bringing my blush up high, like past my eyes. Just not my look.

I've only recently gotten into blush because I'm pretty pale and it usually just makes me look really sunburned but I've found if I put a small amount just on my cheeks and blend it into my contour it looks better

Maria, I am totally the same way; blush really does add a little something extra to a makeup look :)

I apply mine with a fluffy blush brush, for similar reasons that Breeze stated.

As for the areas in which I apply it, I actually blend it into my contour. If I'm not contouring that day, I'll place it in the contour lines of my face or onto the high points of my cheekbones, depending on what I'm feeling like doing that day.

My favorite blushes are by Physician's Formula and Lancôme. They are very pigmented, long wearing, and are overall great in my opinion.

I prefer to add my blush to the spots where my face naturally flushes, lightly of course. For me that is usually about at the apples of my cheeks, swooped back just a tad. Here is a pic, for reference. I added the lightest amount on the apples and then lightly pulled some of the product back in a circular motion sweeping almost up... lol.

I am thinking of getting thebalm blushes! I heard they are amazing. The hot mama one is very similar to nars orgasm :)
I apply the blush on my apples of my cheeks and blend it outwards ' ;)

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE BALM?
