Hey guys, I have bleached hair and I wanted to dye it Silver, so I bought a silver dye from Directions and applied it as directed, left it to take for 30 minutes and it literally just washed out, I assume it's because my hair is bleached. What are my options? Other than letting my natural hair grow out then dying that?

Looks more yellow in this picture than it does in person.

You could try to put a blue/purple silver shampoo in it, let it sit for a couple of hours, that will turn it really cold blond, with a silver-ish shine, of cause not as much as a silver dye, but it might work and then you could try the silver color again in a couple of shampoo-ing!

Thanks for the advice, any specific shampoo brand you would recommend Sabrina?

Any products I could use to repair my hair?

Well depending on where your from! I used to use the Loreal expert silver shampoo I believe it's called, it's a big silver bottle with a pump. I have since switched to Swiss O'par silver shampoo since its easier to get in my country :) I will find pictures of both :)

And for hair repair - definitely coconut oil!

But your hair doesn't look that damage! I think it's the yellow that made the silver not show up! because the hairs in front are very light and kind of silver! So I think once you get the yellow out the silver will go on perfectly!

It depends on what you have time for and money too there are really good redken products for damaged hair like the redken shots its a protein shot for your hair it works. But you have to understand that you can fix damaged hair you have to let your hair grow back out to make it healthy. Bleaching your hair too much makes the holes in the hair so big that the color molecules won't stay in the hair. I hope this helps.

It needs to be almost platinum to get the perfect finish, yellow like that will unfortunately never make the silver appear, I was platinum when I had silver hair, and I used directions =) but yes also use silver shampoo - that makes the haircolor stay and works WONDERS!

One last question, do I use it twice weekly as directed if I'm trying to get my hair grey asap, or do I use it everytime I shower?

Okay what I did was I put in a large amount in my dry or damp hair, then I let it sit for at least 2 hours and washs it out (use some conditioner after so it doesn't dry out to much) the first time it will probably just get rid of the yellow, if it's very yellow you might have to do this twice. Then you just do this until you reach the result you want :) And if you condition well with a good conditior (Aussie 3 minute) you can do this a couple of times a week! Your hair is short and healthy so it can take a lot :)

When you achieve your result, then just use the shampoo as your normally would, and then just redo the 2 hours when it needs a boost :)
