Hello! I really want to know everything there is to getting my hair permanently straightened. So far I've heard of these terms: "Korean Magic Perm" "Japanese Straightening" "Relaxer" "Keratin Straightening" and "Brazillian Blowout". I've also heard that these treatments use formaldehyde, is that true? If not, is this also ok to DIY from the store or is it equivalent to bleaching? Just some specific questions and I will leave more info about my hair below if that helps any, but really I just want to know as much as I can before doing this. Thanks!

My Hair:

Length- an inch and a half past my shoulders
Condition- no split ends, thick (not super but enough for a hairstylist to tell me I have a lot of hair) takes color very well, hair sheds tremendously but it's not dry or anything.
Dye- Virgin hair > blonde highlights > dark brown dye > jet black dye (x2)
(all done at the salon using redken products until the jet black dye I did myself using ion brilliance dye)
Texture: mostly straight, has some waves and considerably frizzy.

There's a treatment called 40 Days Straight, which is a chemical straighten. I know two people who have had this done and it contains no formaldehyde
