Hi girls, so I purchased Beccas Champagne pop x Jaclyn Hill today, as much as I want to love it, I don't know how to feel about it. It looks so good on others but I have light/fair skin so I feel its a little dark for me. What are your experiences with it if you have light/fair skin? Any recommendations for a good highlight for light/fair skin? Thanks in advance!

I have super pale skin, and just purchased soft and gentle by Mac. I love it so much. It looks amazing

Hmm I've never bought that specific highlighter but with my experience with other highlighters I believed to be too dark for my skin in the last, I usually try getting a small amount by just very lightly pressing my brushing on the highlight and lightly applying onto my cheekbones, Cupid's bow, etc.

Beccas Moonstone might have been a better choice for you. Champagne Pop can look too yellow on some pale skintones due to its intensity depending on the undertones of your skin.

I seen moonstone but I was determined on making champagne pop work, sadly it didnt as I had visualized. I think ill have to test it out, hopefully it works out, I love the texture and pigmentation of champagne pop although it didnt suit me right so hopefully moonstone does!

Here are some swatches. Please take into consideration that I have a medium skintone and all descriptions are my own personal opinion.
1. Becca Moonstone (champagne beige)
2. Becca Opal (peachy champagne)
3. Mac Soft & Gentle (a peachy-pink champagne)
4. Laura Geller Gilded Honey (yellow gold, the closest shade I own to Champagne Pop).

Jocelyne, you are not alone. I'm pale and felt it looked unsightly, unnatural and the gold dust did nothing for my skin. Even with a light hand, it never felt or appeared natural or even flattering.

I'm fond of MAC Strobe Cream, which adds a brightness and hint of pearly that leaves a slight radiance. It mixes well with foundation or over my CC cream as a highlight. Quite delightful.

I have super fair skin, and I quite like champagne pop. I will say, however, I'm not looking for my highlight to look natural. I like a BAM highlight. I usually will mix champagne pop with something else because I think alone it can come across a bit too golden on me, but I do like the look of it alone if I'm going for that kind of look. I like mixing it with moonstone, or the white square of the physicians formula shimmer palette thing. I especially love that Becca is cruelty free (as is physicians formula)
Honestly, if you think champagne pop is too dark, I'd go for moonstone. It's a gorgeous paleeeeeee golden highlight, and my personal favorite. So much so, I've hit major pan on it!

Thanks girls your feedback is well appreciated! I like that 3rd swatch Marleen, but it makes me wonder how different it'll show up on my skin 😕 and I've heard great stuff on the strobe cream as well Rozberry, I'd like to try that one out as well! And yes that was my problem Molly, it was too golden 😕 how long did it take you to hit pan? And Sydney opal looks GREAT on you!! 😫😍 thanks girl for your recommendations!! <3.

Thanks Sav! If I don't get their highlight I definitely have set my eyes on their bahama bronzer!

I think Moonstone is a safe bet. It is a neutral beige champagne as opposed to Soft & Gentle which is peachy champagne which may look a tad too golden or orange on lighter skintones.

Even though Soft and Gentle can look nice on lighter skintones, everyone has different undertones which can make a difference on how it reads on the skin. Not to mention, some skintypes can oxidize makeup more than others. And also some foundations can cause a color change of whatever product you put onto it.

Jacqlyn Hill did a video on her favorite highlighters and she included swatches, what she liked/didnt like about them, and even gave her opinion on what skin tone they'd suit. You should definitely check that video out!

I recently went to a Mac counter and swatched 'Lightscapade' and it's stunning on pale skin! It's really sheer but very build able and it had more silverish peachy tones. unfortunately I didn't take a picture of the swatch.

It took me about a year of nearly daily use to hit pan!

I have fair skin and I love champagne pop! But I could see that, so I'd reccomend moonstone soft and gentle is darker than champagne pop and I only wear it in the summer

I purchased moonstone and LOOVE it! Thanks girls!! <33.

I knew you'd love it! And since its pretty neutral, not too yellow , but just a touch of it so it doesn't come off chalky or frosty, its pretty universal for most light- medium skintones no matter what undertones you have in your skin.  Enjoy!
