I have lots of thick hair and it never stays straightened. I use a heat protectant, a straightener, and a strong hairspray.

I have the same problem, because I have curly thick hair. What is your hair type?(: What I do is when I get out of the shower I make my hair as straight as possible with the blow dryer first and then later run over it with the straightener. I also use a straightening serum. The one I use is a little pricey but I'm sure there are others. http://www.sleekhair.com/14153.html And lastly make sure you are using a good iron. Once I switched to the Nume Hair straightener I realized a worlds difference from my Sephora one. It depends but look into it!

Isabella pretty much covered it! Your hair will stay much smoother/straighter if you blow dry it straight first. Apply a styling cream, and using a large round brush, dry your hair with the nozzle on a slight downward and indirect angle, and move down the length of your hair while rotating the brush. This, with lots of practice, should do most of the straightening work for you. But if you do need to use a straightener, it sounds like you're doing everything right, you may just need to upgrade your straightener. They can get pricey, but a lot of them offer warranties, so you'll get your money's worth. Personally, I love my PYT straightener!

As a stylist I swear by Paul Mitchell super skinny serum mixed with Paul Mitchell fast form. if you have a ton of thick hair, take it by sections when it's wet and use the product liberally, blow drying each section straight. unfortunately, the smaller the sections the better even though it's more time, it's the only way to get the job done. however both these products reduce drying time. afterwards, use a heat protectant and run your flat iron through the same size sections.

If you are looking for a really good straightener check out the Karmin Salon Series "Professional grade Far- Infrared Ceramic heating element for flash quick heating" (karminhairtools.com/karmin-salon-series-ceramic-hair-straightener) I am seriously thinking of upgrading from my G3 Salon Pro.
