Major beauty news! L'Oréal announced today that it signed papers to acquire Urban Decay, a brand known for its colorful pigments. Adding to L'Oréal's luxe portfolio of brands including Clarisonic, YSL Beauté, and Lancome, Urban Decay is a more youthful, edgy addition to the cosmetics giant. UD will report to L'Oréal Luxe USA president Carol Hamilton, and subject to approval, the acquisition should go into effect by end of year.
What do you think about this industry purchase? Many fans are already concerned over the future of the brand's stance on animal testing, but L'Oréal does own brands such as Giorgio Armani which continue to maintain no-animal testing policies.

I don't know why I'm sad and mad about this but I am. I just hope that the brand stays a good brand and doesn't go all crappy. I looooovvve there eye shadows more than Mac even. So pigmented. I'm sure it'll stay the same the thought of them testing on animals hurts my heart. Someone mentioned monopolizing the makeup industry. Yes it's terrible what happened to small business or even mediocre in size. Why feel the need to sell out?

I don't even care anymore because a lot of vegan/ no animal testing people will not buy a product that rest on animals but will buy stuff that some poor kid or person work hours on end to make for low wage. Toms for example doesn't even give the kids their profits go to decent shoes like their own brand. they get b.s shoes. that is just an fyi for you all

L'oreal bought Bodyshop and as I work for them I can personally attest that all it did was give us more funding we are still very anti-animal testing and still as great as ever in the products dept so its ok yeah L'oreal is known for being nasty but not everyone they buy changes and I don't think we netted to worry about UD as they have strong policies xx

@Brittany thank you for your insight, although it won't change my view on Loreal.
