Instead of pressing, depending on the size, you can also crush it further to mix with other colors then repress OR use as a loose shadow.

The broken eyeshadow trick is great! I haven't had a shatter shadow in forever, but at least I know what to do when it dos shatter. ^_^

As long as you are sure that the product isnt beyond its shelf life - cosmetics (especilally those claiming to be organic and paraben free) are great places for bacteria to grow. You do not want to be giving yourself eye infections for the sake of a few dollars or pounds. Most cosmetics have a thee year shelf life, so if yours is a favourite that is due for retirement, throw it away!
