Bobbi Brown's Tips For The Modern Bride

If you haven't heard already, Bobbi's makeup was used for the wedding of the season—The Royal Wedding! While Kate did her own makeup for the big day, Bobbi Brown Makeup artist Hannah Martin provided artistry assistance to other members of the bridal party. Kate was the epitome of a modern bride—fresh, defined, and pretty. However, some brides want to have a little more fun with their makeup on the big day. We spoke with Bobbi for tips on how to play with your makeup look without regretting the photos.

"This year, I've seen a lot of brides with beautiful, natural looking makeup that defines their features without overpowering their face," says Bobbi. "To re-create this look, take your everyday makeup and step it up a few notches. Apply a bit more blush, frame your eyes with a stronger and deeper liner, and shape lips for a defined, glossy pout. Wedding photos are forever, and you want to look like yourself at your prettiest when walking down the aisle."

Many brides are loving the season's hottest trends: Bright lips, colored smoky eyes, and ultra dewy skin. "If you're going to wear any of these beauty trends, just pick one on your wedding day," advises Bobbi. "If you choose a bright lip, opt for a sheer formula and pair it with a simple defined eye. If you want to add color to your smoky eye, I recommend using soft, shimmering pastels to create a look that's more ethereal than bold. When it comes to skin, glowing can easily turn greasy—stick with a natural finish for your foundation and dust subtle shimmer on the cheekbones and décolletage for hints of radiance."
