Flower Power

Published Feb 15, 2012
Spring is right around the corner, bringing sunshine, blooming flowers, and pep to your step. But if you can’t wait for real buds to appear, feast your eyes on the latest floral beauty products and makeup combinations. From red roses and peonies to purple orchids, there’s sure to be some flora that will make you swoon.
The exotic bird of paradise flower is a tropical delight, but have you ever thought of replicating it on your eyes? We adore Dawn B.’s use of vibrant color, which looks exactly like the striking plant, complete with iridescent gold eye liner.
Known as the flower of remembrance (a poppy is worn to respect a soldier’s death), this crimson bloom is one nature’s truest reds. Replicate the scarlet flower on your nails just like Victoria R. Her manicure looks just like the abstract poppy illustration that decorates the classic Kenzo Flower fragrance.
These pastel Paul & Joe polishes won’t just light up your nails, the antique-inspired bottles will look like miniature cherry blossoms sitting on your vanity.
If you don’t have your own garden, create one in your bathroom! Small enough to fit into a carry-on suitcase, the Corioliss mini blow-dryer is reminiscent of vintage floral prints. If you prefer Monet’s garden, straighten your locks with the amika x Cynthia Rowley styler—it features a print from the designer’s Spring 2012 collection and is available in March.
Pink roses symbolise grace and elegance, and a bunch (or even just one bud) will make you feel like a princess. Spread the love to your face by swiping on Lancôme La Roseraie Illuminating Smooth Powder, a candy-pink colored blush for an instant, rosy flush or paint tiny versions of the bloom onto your eyelids like Ashley G.

Tarte's good-for-you Maracuja Divine Shine Lip Gloss brings the garden indoors. The plumping formula contains maracuja oil (which is rich in vitamin C) and we love that the tube reminds us of chrysanthemums. Stay tuned because Tarte will release a new maracuja-rich product, covered with darling flower prints, next month.
Sights and smells can bring back vivid memories of happiness, comfort, and security, especially when you travel! If you love the orchid’s elegant shape and grace as much as we do, pack the Malie Orchid Soy Travel Candle for your next trip. You’ll be reminded of the exotic flower, and the soy wax won’t release toxins that are harmful to the environment.
We’re positively ga-ga for peonies—are you? Unfortunately, this voluptuous flower only blossoms once a season, but for a year-round hit, why not mimic the peony pink color on your lips? (Try L’Oréal Colour Riche Lip Gloss!). We can’t get enough of Daniela M.’s feminine lip and matching blush—a peony in her hair would be the ideal finishing touch.

This is so pretty and I love Dawn's eye look. I think the bird of paradise flowers have amazing colors and the makeup just brings out the best of those hues!

Thanks Jasmine! It was actually inspired by the X-Men character Phoenix, but it seems people are changing what it is all over lol.
