Traditionally, we've been raised on the shower basics: Cleanse with shampoo, and replenish moisture with conditioner. Not anymore! New science is showing that—particularly on dehydrated, coarse hair types—excess shampoo use dries out the scalp and hair follicle, making it unmanageable. Instead, companies are developing shampoo/conditioner hybrids that combine the nourishing properties of an oil while effectively cleansing the scalp—which means less buildup without drying or damaging your hair! We tested out some of the newest formulations on the market.
Pureology Shamp-Oil (Available August)
Blow-dryers, flat-irons, and bleach all lead to one thing—damage. This shamp-oil combines four different oils (sunflower seed, coconut, olive, and jojoba) to deeply saturate and moisturize your mane. The unique formula penetrates each strand so that the oil doesn't sit on top of your head (which is what gives you that greasy feeling).
Wen Cleansing Conditioner
The original in cult-classic cleansing conditioners, Wen is made of all-natural ingredients, and works to cleanse and moisturize simultaneously. The conditioner feels like you’re slathering lotion onto your locks upon first contact, but washes clean and leaves hair silky soft!
L'Oréal Paris EverCrème Cleansing Conditioner
This oil-based conditioner is low-lather and sulfate-free, which means that fewer suds are better suds. The amazingly scented formula (like vanilla pods!) focuses on renewing hydration and health in hair, (particularly dry, coarse and super curly textures) making it easier to manage. While an oil-based product may seem scary to those with sebum-rich scalps, try using it as a hair mask twice a week and feel the difference!

My mom uses wen and her hair is super damaged from all the test done on her in the hospital(steroids for brain swelling just one of the many things that ruined her hair) and the fact that she doesn't absorb vitamins and minerals very well if at all. Her hair has been completely transformed. He was dry and stick straight now its soft and wavy. She doesn't use it all the time but she doesn't need to. she uses it about twice a week the rest of the week she uses another shampoo.

All of these sound great! I've heard of the Wen conditioner but I didn't know Loreal had a cleansing conditioner as well. I'm interested in trying both! They sound perfect for cowashing

My hair type is a hybrid by itself. Coarse, fine, curly, straight....I can go on, but I really want to try Wen. Question though: seeing that my hair is of different textures, how would it react to my hair? Would it replenish each strand, or would only certain parts of my hair get replenished?
