So you can see my roots are showing darker but how do you bleach them lighter without damaging the scalp??

Just part and bleach I usually use my hands as harsh at that seems just flick over some hair dab the color at the roots and your good

I would personally recommend going to the hairdresser much safer however because you've got a lighter colour use some baby powder and dab it on lightly (else it looks like you have dandruff) and that will cover your roots for a little while

you could also try coloured dry shampoo -
