Okay so I 27years old and I have neglected my skin all my life. Slept with my makeup never I just washed my face with bar soap in the shower and sometimes applied lotion to my face. I just recently started trying to take care of my face. I have been using the neutrogena oil free acne wash almost every day morning and night. And sometimes cetaphil cleanser. I have been using cetaphil cream to moisturize. I also apply witch hazel before I moisturize. I'm still breaking out. I have some red acne scars that really bother me and large pores. Is there anything you recommend I change or maybe some different products. My face tends to be on the oily side. Thanks in advance.

Hi! I would say first drink tons of water if you don't already. I would then tell you to invest in something like a Clarisonic or maybe a really good dupe for it. It really does clean your skin better than your hands. I have large pores to, and the only way to make them look small is to keep them clean. I have been told that there is no way to get rid of large pores. I suggest you take a hot face cloth and press it to your face for a couple of seconds so your pores can open up. When your pores are open the face cleaner can get down in your pores and really clean them out instead for just cleaning the surface. For cleaning products, I would recommend Aveeno positively radiant skin brightening daily scrub to get all the dead dry skin cleared away. I would then use a mild face wash like philosophy's purity. Aveeno, Neutrogena, and simply all make really mild face wash too. Once you're done cleaning your skin, Pat your face dry or let it air dry. Since you have trouble with acne I would recommend using an astringent with salicylic acid in it to fight acne. I use clear pore oil eliminating astringent by Neutrogena. Finally, moisturize with a product that is oil free like a gel instead of a cream. I use fresh's lotus you preserve face cream. Skin MD is also a good one if you are going to wear makeup over it. I also recommend using a heavier moisturizer at night. Remember that your breakouts can be caused by the food you're eating, stress and environmental factors. Your dark spots can fade if you use a spot corrector. Proactive makes a good dark spot corrector and so does Clinique. Don't forget to get lots of rest use sunscreen our products with sunscreen in it. Also , some product stop responding to the skin after a while so you may have switch products every few months so your skin can continue to be healthy. I hope this helps. Good luck!

Have you considered going to a dermatologist? I'm 28 and have been using retin-a for 2 years now.seriously,it has changed my skin! Unfortunately, its not an over the counter product but its the best I've tried.I had the same problem with my skin and I can say that mine looks so much better now than when I was in highschool.👍

You need to get some exfoliation going on. Just soap and hands isn't going to be enough to get off the dead skin your oils are slicking down naturally. Either a scrub or chemical exfoliant like aha would help. A clarisonic would be wonderful.

I have thought about the clairsonic but have heard mixed reviews on it. I have heard that it may cause more acne because it may store oils and residue.

Don't strip the natural oils from your face with too many acne products as your skin will overcompensate to produce oil and your acne will probably persist. The clarisonic idea is good and find a good non perfumed etc.moisturiser by sampling at beauty counters if you can. A serum with citrus in will help too. Gentle products are better but STAY AWAY FROM BABY PRODUCTS they are surprisingly awful!!

I would suggest Proactiv. It worked for some people I know, But I think it really all depends on the user! http://antiskinproblems.com/truth-about-proactive-reviews/
