I like to add brown sugar, instead of raw or regular white granulated, because I feel like it's a little softer and doesn't tear up my lips as much. Mix with your choice of olive oil, coconut oil, honey or a lip balm.

Honey and sugar or you could use oil instead of honey.

Brown sugar and honey is my go to mix. Gets everything off and my lips feel soft (and taste sweet) after.

So it's okay to use just white sugar with honey/lip balm and nothing else?

And is it fine to put it in a jar and reuse it again.

Yes and yes. Just make sure you clean your hands before using it each time so you don't transfer bacteria from your hands into the jar. And white sugar works, just make sure not to scrub as hard because the crystals are a little more abrasive than the brown is.

Okay just one more question, when is the best time to do it? In the morning before applying makeup, or at night before bed?

Look up Michelle Phan's DIY lip scrub on YouTube. I found it years ago and it's still my go-to :) it has honey, sugar, and Vaseline

Also, do it at right before bed (after brushing your teeth), and use Vaseline w/ cocoa butter lip balm (tiny tub, found at drug stores) right after. You'll wake up with a new set of soft, pretty lips :)

And after reading your comments; I've tried to keep it in the fridge, and I think the sugar dissolved. I just make it fresh each time, but whatever works for you, go for it :)

I like to do it before I apply my makeup so the lips are freshly exfoliated!
