How long before I can switch my industrial bar out for a new one. also, are there 16g septum jewelry but in a smaller diameter.

Yes! You can definitely search around for a smaller 16g septum bar, my first bar was really tiny where the balls go so I got a bigger horseshoe bar later on but you can definitely find them :)

I'd wait 8-10 weeks :) And yes! I have a tiny horseshoe bar for my 16g septum. I bought it online but I can't remember the name of the website (of course lmao) I'll look when I get home and let you know :) Or just look on Google and find a really small diameter, good luck! <3

Until it heals. Healing time depends on how well you take care of it, but you will definitely know when it is healed!

Professional piercer/Tattooer here... You should wait a minimum of 2-3 months before replacing/swapping out your industrial bar. Those are notorious for being one of the toughest piercings to heal, bc of the pressure the bar puts on the two punctures in your ear. To avoid that, be sure to find a bar that fits comfortably in your ear between the punctures. Always make sure you're using medical grade, sanitary jewelry as well! Seen some gnarly infected/impacted piercings on people that either don't buy the correct quality jewelry, or they switch it out too soon...
As for the septum jewelry, the standard size is a 16g, but as far as the diameter of the horse-shoe, captive ring, or clicker, they all come in all sizes. Shop around! You'll have the most luck going to a licensed piercer at a professional shop to find the perfect jewelry... Hell, they'll usually even switch it out for you!
I hope I've helped answer your questions!

My industrial has been in for a cpl months. it is healing great and no bumps or lumps or weird things goin on lol. I was just curious how long one should leave it in. I have had many piercings and had to have them removed for work. luckily the ear ones can be covered by my hair so no one is The wiser lol. as for my septum tho I find the horseshoe too big. it is 16g but as I mentioned, has a pretty big diameter which I'm not fond of. it was what I originally had it pierced with. that was a good seven months ago so time to get something else instead. I was at the tattoo shop with my fiance yesterday and scoped out the jewelry while he was getting his tattoo done but I saw nothing that grabbed my attention.
