UK sizing confusion help.

Ok so the whole UK to USA sizing conversion confuses me so much! I wear a large in tops in US sizing but want to buy some blouses from NewLook.com so if I wear a large in say forever for reference, what size would I wear at New look? even the conversion charts are confusing.

Our clothes sizes don't go by small medium or large, but I think a large would be a size 14 or 16

You woukd be a size 12 (40) or 14 (42)
