Contouring: cream or powder?

I'm currently trying out a powder contouring kit but I'm not so satisfied😔. I would like to know the pros and cons for both. Can anyone recommend me to some contour kits or products. Thank you lovelies!

Powder is best because cream can be a bit cakey.

I have the rcma contour and highlight cream kit. it's amazing. I do feel the need to put foundation on first though, because I need full coverage, but it blends beautifully, and looks great without being overpowering. use a HD powder to set it all. I also have the ABH contour kit which is powder which I tend to reach for more often because it's so quick and easy. also not to noticeable which is why I use it all the time more for daily use, when you want a little extra oomph.: ) on nights that I go out, I use both. they are both amazing kits, it's all about preference.

I personally would reach for a powder because a cream could look cakey and with a powder you can control how much colour you want. You could try the NYX blush in taupe...it is a blush but it is the perfect colour for contouring (and it's affordable 👍).

This may sound a bit weird actually really weird. but I like to use the Revlon cream quad in not just nudes for a cream contour. there's a gorgeous Matte brown shade that works perfect for contouring on me I love it so much and it blends beautifully.

I would say it's mainly a preference based on your skin type. I opt for powder since I have extremely oily skin. If I ever used foundation + cream contour it would be a disaster. I couldn't stand to have that much liquid/cream product on my face either.

To be honest, I had to mix and match and try lots of different types of makeup and powders and different ways to contour to finally find something that I felt happy with! Personally, it is easier to contour with liquid foundation. I use a foundation 4 shades lighter for my highlight and a shade 4 shades darker for my contour. I apply it under my actual foundation and so it won't look cakey and like I'm wearing too much product on my face, I use a whipped, cream foundation (very little of it!) and apply it over over the contour with a beauty blender, it looks natural and it doesn't cake! Hope this helped a little!

I guess more people reach for powder on an everyday basis because it is easy, but when I watch wayne goss (gossmakeupartist on youtube) he does cream contouring and highlighting and it looks so much better kind of like what Em said!

If you flip over to the editorials of Beautylish, you'll find an article from 1 or 2 days ago which talks about this! I believe it said that powder is good for a more natural finish and cream for a dewy look. That being said, I think I prefer powder for school and work and cream for a day or night out :)

I think cream looks really nice but you need to know what you are doing or else it will look dumb. I once saw this lady who used a cream contour and she had it all right except...she forgot to blend! It looked terrible!...powder is just easier to blend.

I personally perfer powder because its easier to blend and use. make sure to find a matte bronzer that is two shades darker than your natural skin tone. I use a contour brush by real techniques or an angled brush to get really define cheekbones. I like to use cream contour too but I think its a bit dramatic for an everyday look. its takes more time because you have to blend then apply the bronzing powder on top to set it which takes more time.
