So I'm thinking about starting off 2015 by subscribing to my very first makeup subscription. Found out about Ipsy through one of my favorite youtubers, anyone on here is subscribed or has any thoughts to share on what they think about it? Is it worth the $10 a month?

It is veru hit or miss but is ALWAYS worth more than $10. I just give away or trade away the items that don't suit my skin type/tone.

This month I got a 2 oz face wash, a nyx butter lip balm, a mini tarte mascara, a mineral eye shadow and a heat protectant for hair.

In my opinion it is definitely worth the $10 a month! You will get items you won't like on occasion but that's going to happen with any subscription service. They have millions of people so they can't tailor it to your specific desires. The things you don't like or want though you can always save up and gift away to another beauty lover in your family or a friend :) It's a great way to try out new products!

Seems like no one has anything bad to say about it so I think I'm going to do it! Can't beat new makeup productus every month for only 10 bucks. Plus I love that they have nyx & urban decay products!

I've had mine for a year now and I love it yes some products you won't like and some months will not be as good as others but over all it's worth it:) you can cancel anytime too with no extra charge:)

I love my ipsy just be prepared for a long wait. I did everything to jump the wait even creating a Facebook account to help and I still waited 6 months.

I actually just cancelled mine because it's not really darker skin tone friendly. I've been sent many things I couldn't & wouldn't use on my complexion.

I love my ipsy subscription. It's like Christmas is once a month with all these cute little beauty products showing up on your doorstep! I agree with the other ladies about how on occasion there will be items you don't love but for only $10 a month it's definitely worth it in my opinion.

You can skip the wait by getting a friend to sign up so I did that and she was going to just cancel once her wait was up since she was just doing it to help me out but ended up keeping it bc she loved it so much:)

I agree with jasmine. I got lots of products that I wouldn't use on my hair, or that didn't work with my skin tone, or that I just didn't really want. I felt like I would be better off just buying $10 of product I actually wanted per month. But it's definitely always worth more than $10 per month. I'd look up unboxing vids for a few months and see how many products actually appeal to you.

This chatting make me want to subscribe, I am about to do some research. Quick question are there any other sites??

Dec 18, 2014

Jess there are lots of other beauty box subscriptions besides ipsy. There's Julep maven, beauty box 5, birchbox, glossy box and many many more.

I'm also looking at Boxycharm, which I've only heard good things about. Gives you full size products for only 21 bucks a month. Had no idea about a waiting list for ipsy, so if I were to subscribe in January, I wouldn't actually receive a January bag?

Well. with my ipsy subscription I didn't have to wait. I did the whole facebook thing it wants and it worked fo are me. Now, I did make an account a month earlier but didn't subscribe. Ipsy would send me emails trying to get me to subscribe with discounts, previews and "skip the wait list" emails.

Girls, I am a bit older than you all are, so if I am understanding , you subscribe to this site and you get a monthly surprise package of beauty goodies to try/ mostly trial size, I would guess, cost $10 per month, but what if your say my age (over 50something years) when making these accounts do they do a personal profile to get an idea of products you might purchase, full sizes of?

Victoria, yeah they have you take a beauty quiz! I had to take one when making my account. Not sure how accurate it is but there is one.

Also, if I subscribe, I've been told I can be upgraded off the waiting list, so that's awesome!

Victoria I find that my beauty box 5 sends more age appropriate products than ipsy even though ipsy has the quiz. I love Ipsy and it is definitely worth it but I get a lot of stuff that is definitely not usable for a woman my age. I just give it to my stepdaughter or one of my friends kids. Think glittery eye shadow (um crow's feet) and color changing nail polish.

Erika I never got taken off the wait list, I got three people to sign up with my link and even did the whole Facebook thing every month, I still waited 6 months for it :(

Aww Raylene, I'm sorry! I subscribed yesterday & got taken off the wait list already, I'll get my first bag next month.
