I've been having some issues with my makeup recently. My skin gets really oily and my foundation will start to get blotchy and wear off in places. But if I wear powder my skin looks very dry. Also my eyeshadow never ever stays and gets greasy and fades off. And when I wear lipstick it never looks nice and flawless. How do I fix this??

Have you tried a primer for your face? And for the eyes I would put a primer on too. I like urban decays primer potion. Also for your lips have you tried applying a lip liner first and applying the lipstick with a lip brush? I think that would help.

I use a primer but it doesn't seem to help.

What I do is exfoliate moisturize and pat very little jojoba oil all over my face let it absorbed and thn prime. the jojoba oil will trick your face into think it already has oil and In turn produce less oil.

I use Mary Kay primer and foundation. I used to use Rimmel stay matte but it was worse. I also used Nars and found it looked very orange. I just use maybelline eyeshadow and covergirl mascara.

I have combination skin. Very oily t zone. I use MAC prep and prime. Maybeline fit me foundation and Ben Nye translucent neutral set powder. It took me a longgggg time to find a foundation routine to get the "flawless" look. I also have a pretty intense skin routine & drink 3 liters of water daily. This ALL HELPS

What's your skin routine?

I exfoliate 2x weekly. I use a mask 2x weekly. I wash/clean my face every night and morning along with toner & a moisturizer. The 3 liters of water a day works. I also drink yogi skin detox teasers & there (I have acne prone skin) I can take pics and name exact products when I'm at home

Demetria, you're the only other person I know who drink 3L daily! I swear by it, it's amazing.

As for lipstick (my skin is dry so I can't offer much advice there), try exfoliating, then putting a thin layer of foundation over your lips to subdue their natural color. Then go over the whole lip with liner, and then apply the lipstick (using a brush will make it even neater). Then use your concealer around your mouth to get really clean edges.

Jack, I don't think a lot of people are aware of the benefits. I've only been doing it for about a month but I swear by it now as well.

3 liters of water seems like a lot.. I'd be chugging all throughout the day. Haha.

I have a combination skin aswell and get really oily thru out the day on my tzone I have tried pretty much every single drug store product but nothing worked so now I use max prep+prime then follow with Mac studio fix fluid foundation then set it Mac studio fix powder it works like magic and keeps me matte I only maybe have to touch up after 6+ hours with little bit of powder.

Haha, people make fun of me because I pee a LOT but I am always SO hydrated.

Shanae- I definitely scaled up slowly, I've always drank a lot of water. If you have a reusable bottle it gets pretty easy to set a routine. I have a.5 L bottle so I have one right after waking up, one thru the morning, one with lunch, one through the afternoon, one with dinner and one before bed. Plus I don't really drink other things, so it's always my default.

Oh, Melissa, you might want to pick up a sample of Estée Lauder double wear! It's designed for combo/oily skin and can last up to 15 hours! I recently tried it and was amazed by how well it held up.

I agree with jack^ I was going to purchase but they didn't have enough shades for my yellow underskin tone!

Try Smashbox Primer for oily skin. Instead of regular pressed powder, just pat a high quality translucent powder over the areas that need setting. I use Mac's eye primer in Painterly and it holds my eyeshadow all day and night. I exfoliate my lips with my toothbrush and I use an invisible liner to create a barrier that will prevent feathering. Just some tips on what I do, look into some new products and see what works for you! Seohora will give you a sample of absolutely anything in the store (free) so you can try different things without breaking the bank. Good luck to you!  😊

Hm, really sandy? I have REALLY yellow undertones and found a match. The store I went to, it was displayed in several clusters of four. Each cluster was a different darkness, and the four foundations in each cluster went from yellow to neutral to pink undertones. Maybe your store didn't have the whole range!

Aw really! Maybe cause the lady that was working their everything that she tried on just looked orange or pinkish, I went to Myer for reference! Which shade are you in?

I've got 4W1 honey bronze, it's the yellowest of the fourth color grouping. It's significantly lighter than it looks on the Estée Lauder website, though.

Thanks jack! I will definitely go pick up a sample and see how it goes.

I'd swatch the 4 and the 3 (slightly lighter), the 4 might be too dark for you!

I can't really drink water unless I have a cute water bottle and it's cold lol. But when it's cold, it hurts my teeth, and then I don't want to drink it. I mean, I don't get by without drinking water, I do drink it, but no where near as much as I should.
