I purchased the Essie Matte top coat and if I'm not wearing artificial nails the polish chips really quickly. Just the other day I did my nails with Ulta's Encore Pink which is a pale pink and accent nail was a matte gold I received in November's ipsy bag. I applied two coats of each color like I usually do then I added a matte coat to only the pink nails (one coat like the packaging says). Maybe I did something wrong, a way to prevent chipping and cracks, or has anyone else had this happen.

Someone else mentioned Essie matte in a previous post and said it was garbage because it chips really quick.

I saw that too/: Raylene I. do you think putting a top coat then the matte coat might help?? Or that's too much product on the nails? Olivia S.

I believe a top coat would add shine to the matte?

Olivia... what do you mean by "make sure you also top your color"? are you saying as another layer to the end of the nail only?

I think she mean to drag the polish down and over the free edge of the nail, to help seal it to avoid any lift on the ends.
