If I use a beauty blender to apply liquid foundation to my face will the makeup look better than applying it with my fingers? I've seen Beauty blenders at sephora and cannot understand why they're so expensive, what's the difference between real "Beauty blenders" and the knock off ones?

The beauty blender can make some foundations look more netural and skin like. some look better when applied with a dry blender and some with a moist one. (from experience foundations that tend to look cakey are really nice to apply with a moist beauty blender.
as for the difference between the original and the knock offs I think that it depends on the specific one but some absorb more product and some just leave the foundation looking patchy and a bit uneven. some rave about the beauty blender and some hate it so I think that it really depends on the foundation you use and your skin type. you could always try and decide for yourself :)

I like the Real Techniques one. I always use mine wet. It's nice for those of us with drier skin as it doesn't stir up any flaking as buffing sometimes can. You could just try a regular, damp sponge if on a budget. I just dig how long. lasting they are.

I also have the real techniques one...I believe it was like 5 bucks...I also use it wet and my makeup has never looked better.

Honestly I thought the same thing, but my boyfriend saw me constantly eyeing them in sephora and bought me one, and I'm obsessed. I use it every almost every day. I especially love it for concealer

Its the type of sponge used that different. I own a beauty blender, it's okay. It comes nowhere near my Kevyn Aucoin and Chikuhodo brushes! Not by an inch and I have very dry skin.

Kitty, what foundation do you use with your brushes? I'm on the hunt for winter.

I have the original beauty blender and the real tecnique one In my opinion I get the same finish, using my fingers is to messy for me I use a flat top brush then finish it with the sponge , it looks more natural and just like you have flawless skin instead of seeing the makeup sitting on top of your skin , I just like the end product better using both.

@Rozberry
RCMA, love that foundation. Looks just like skin and feels like weighless. Its the perfect fantasy foundation of full coverage meets weightless. I can't tell touch anything else at the moment :)

Real Techniques is a very good dupe. If you are going to get a Beauty Blender, I would get the black one. The pink can bleed color when you wash it.

I agree with Rozberry, the real techniques one is great and it is soo much cheaper. To me there is nothing special about the beauty blender. It's a sponge lol. It's all about the name in my opinion. I am all for paying more for quality products but I don't think the beauty blender can offer much more than the RT one does. I will say I tried an off the wall brand of the same type of sponge that I found at TJ Maxx and it was terrible. So not every sponge is great regardless of the price/brand/name. Real Techniques however I feel is quality. All of their products I've tried are actually.
