Your acne looks like cosmetic acne... Maybe a little hormonal mixed. What kind of products do you use on your face?

Hey I've tried every acne product nudes the sun including this one for my mild acne that's similar to yours except I never had any acne on my cheeks. The only thing that worked fore was going to my doctor and getting a prescription for birth control and accuntane. Those 2 combined gave me flawless perfect skin, it's been a year now since I last took the pills, my skin is still perfect

Trust me when I say none of the drug store stuff will work like accutane would

I think I've tired all the drug store washes, creams, treatments, and lotions for years , they're a huge waste of money.

I've never tried that, sorry. but I have to disagree with just going straight to accutane. that is supposed to be a last resort. & drug store products CAN work. they aren't a waste of money. everyone's skin is different. just because something doesn't work for one person doesn't mean it's not going to work for anyone.

I use body shop powder on my face, that is all
I have tried everything
I have a doctors appointment tomorrow and was thinking about asking for Accutane but I have been told my acne is not severe enough

Agree with Alexis. just using a face wash isn't going to do much.

I have tried so many skin care product routines
I think I am going to try acutane
Do you know any brands that actually work?
Aug 25, 2014
Sel L.
Yes I know it needs to be prescribed
Thanks for your help

Your acne doesn't seem that bad to me. I think you need to stick with one skincare routine, and maybe invest in a clarisonic to get into your pores deep. As for makeup, look for makeup that is paraben free, fragrance free, etc. those ingredients just irritate the skin. Some brands I recommend are tarte, coverfx and urban decay.

Your bigger red bumps are cystic acne (the ones that hurt really bad). Those are hormonal and could be helped by changing your diet, or starting birth control. Talk to your dr about that though :)

Hi Sel L. I put off asking my doctor about acne products because I had the same thoughts as you, I always thought some cream from the store was going to work and that my face wasn't that bad. When I did go to the doctor he prescribed creams for me to use at first then accutane after the creams as a more permanent solution as the results from other treatments didn't last long.

From my personal experiences I can tell you that I wish I'd gone to the doctor when I first started getting acne. The results from accutane is amazing :)

I believe she said she's tired a lot of items already. When I talked about drug store products with my doctor he pretty much said those don't work for a lot of people. I'm suggesting getting prescription acne treatment because they yield the best results, I'd hate to see her do otherwise and waste a lot of time trying out things that might not work.
