I have dark red hair, it's short just above my shoulders
I want a pink ombre effect and am loving the transition in the picture am attaching, will it work with my hair length and also if I bleach dark red hair will it give me a pink color
I'm not doing it myself, going to my trusted hair stylist, just wanted to get your advice regarding the color and my hair length
Thanks :)

The bleach will strip all the color from your hair.

@Anna oh I've never really dyed my hair myself before so I had no idea what bleach would do so thanks for the info :D

Bleaching a dark shade will result in copper/brass effect. Your hair stylist will explain it to you on what steps she will take in order for you to get the results you want.

Ask for baylage ombré as they blend into your hair better.

Don't skimp out on hair care products after your session is done. Ask your hair stylist for some recommendation on how to take care of your hair and maintaining the new shade.

@Annie thanks for your advice I'll make sure to ask her for good products, though she always does a hair mask after the dye to keep my hair from drying out :)

If you bleach dark red hair it will give you a copper, orange, or yellow color. If you want that gorgeous fuchsia/magenta pink ombre effect your hair colorist will have to bleach/lighten the area most likely using foils up to where you want the fade line. To get the ombre effect I use weaker bleach at the higher lengths where the ombre starts & stronger bleach at the ends where it should be lighter. Obviously the bleach is then removed & you should have a 'neutral' base to put your gorgeous pink on. I prefer Joico Vero K-Pak Color intensity semi permanent colors for brilliant tones like this pink. I'd probably mix at least 3 different shades going from dark to light using Joico's magenta, pink & clear & once again apply using foils - with the darkest pink mid shaft & the lightest at the end.
The pic you showed looks like the model has darker roots than yours, you might want to do an all over semi permanent to get that look & blend the shades a bit more.

Just thought of something, you might want to try one of the new hair chalks like hot hues just to see if you like the effect before committing.
