I had an interview at vs a few months ago, it was such a waste of time. It was a group interview with around 6 people, the girl conducting the interview was no older than me, in her early twenties I think, she had a binder full of questions that she read off the pages and could not care less what you said to them. She didint ask any questions about your skills or why you want to work there, the questions were all really simple pop culture questions like who's your favourite celebrity?

She would ask a question and all the interviewees would go around the circle answering it. Oh and the interview was in a loud food court at the mall. This might sound bad but I believe if you're in university and have good work experience relating to what you're studying and you're just looking for a part time job, you'll be way too good to work there. Basically what I'm trying to say is it appears to me that they're looking for people that can't do any better than work there ( that sounds really bad I apologize)

So if your resume is filled with jobs better than vs, take them out. I think you'd have a better chance getting the job if all your work experience is retail and vs is like a step up for you.

I noticed in your profile that you're pre-med. don't focus on that. I would say I'm studying life sciences at --- college and leave it at that. If you have a bunch of like hospital internships and such on your resume, you're way too good for them and they won't want you. It makes sense though, why would they want to bother with training you when they know you'll quit when your find internship or graduate or something

Oh and also , if you're more academic than hip and cool lol , brush up on your pop culture. I promise you every question they'll ask you is something along the lines of " who's your favourite celebrity" "which vs angel is your dream bff" " which fashion item that's on trend right now do you own"

That's exactly what I said, only list retail experience. Don't make yourself look too good or they won't hire you for a minimum wage job.

Also I'm pretty sure the girl that conducted the interview showed up in sweats and a Tshirt. The other girls showed up in jeans. I wore a banana republic dress and was by far the most over dressed person there

Wait how is she pre-med if she's never been to an interview?

Sep 24, 2014

I she said she was pre-med so I just assumed she's way over qualified for this.

If she has no experience then she'd be a great fit. Just be in touch with pop culture and look hot.

I worked at vs I liked it but I'm also a certified diesel mechanic. Moral is do what you want a job is a job.

Yea I guess the vs I applied to got a lot of highly educated people apply ( it was in a university town ). It was so obvious the second I told her about my work experience she realized I would quit that job as soon as I'm done school so there was no point hiring me

Something like this would look nice. Keep the nails and makeup neutral.

This is also a fool proof look. It can't be considered unprofessional, it also has structure (hence the blazer) and is a very mature outfit.

Honestly I had the same experience with the interview as Whitney. I showed up in a blazer, a nice black and white dress, and white flats. The 5 other girls were wearing jeans. All they talked about was pop culture current events, and somehow ended up talking about kettle corn. The only job related question they asked was what is your current job. Mine was intimates department at Macys, top sales person in my department. others had no experience or worked at a movie theater, or baby sitter. I didn't get the job, nor did I want it at that point. Not trying to discourage you, but I just wanted to stick up for Whitney who hit it spot on with how it was like.

A job is a job guys, my gosh, it's not like this is her career choice. Anyways dress professional regardless. Have fun and good luck at your interview

I actually just had my second interview a few days ago. I wore all black because that's the dress code for vs. Don't be nervous at all! I felt it was less stressful doing the group interview the first time around.
As for makeup I would do something natural with maybe a light pink lip. I say this because the vs I applied too all the girls there do there makeup natural(I shop a little too much there haha & I pay attention to what the girls wear). Good luck! & as for your first interview the ladies said I we could answer when we wanted. So I was the first to answer all the questions. Don't be shy, & be yourself!
