At the end of May I have a dance recital and I need ideas for makeup and hairstyles. For makeup I need to wear red lipstick as well as have dramatic eyes. For hair it needs to be up (either half or all up). If you have any ideas, please help!!

For my dance class, our dance teacher usually requires a full face of makeup with a smokey eye and a red lip. You want it to be heavy and flashy! Remember the audience is far, so you want them to see your makeup from a distance.

Remember, the goal is to define your features and make them visible to everyone - even the people in the back row.
Start with pancake makeup (Max Factor sells the best stuff). This is a full coverage, sweat proof foundation made especially for us dancers. Next, contour your cheekbones. In the 'real' beauty world you're nor supposed to, but I use a matte bronzer for this, because it shows up better than anything else, and it's how I was taught. Next, make sure to apply a pink-ish blush that stands out against your skin, but does not look overdone or clown-ish...that means no hot pink!
For eyes, start off with a shimmering white eyeshadow all over your lid. Place a matte black or very dark brown matte eyeshadow in your crease, and blend it in using a clean, fluffy blending brush. Do a thick winged liner that extends farther than your average, everyday cat eye. Blend out the edges of it with the same black eyeshadow you used earlier. Then you can either place a black kohl liner in your waterline and set it with the eyeshadow, or you can draw a small black line a few cm underneath your eye. This makes your eyes look bigger, but it can look foolish if you're the only one in your group doing it. Apply mascara & falsies (if you can, otherwise just load up on the mascara). Then add your red lips. I would do a waterfall braid going into a bun at the base of your neck.
