I've heard coconut oil is good for locking in moisture n my roomie uses it every night on her dry skin but I also heard it's not good for acne prone skin - for the blackheads I personally love the oil cleansing method but other ways include deep exfoliation as well.

It seems like what you could do is use something with charcoal(Biore has some and there's a DIY vid in here). Then to recondition your skin, use a little coconut oil.

I sometimes reach for coconut oil and I have oily/combo skin. Every skin is a bit different so one has to tread with a side of caution.

I wouldn't recommend using coconut oil for anyones face regardless of their skin type. And I use to use it for 2 years until I realized it was actually not helping my horrible dry skin at all. Coconut oil is a sealant and it makes the skin feel like its moisturizing and doing wonderful things but its basically just making the skin and clogging pores. I recommend CeraVe for dry skin. As for the blackheads try steaming your face and then using a mask (Charcoal mask are great for blackheads).

I think coconut oil just depends on your skin. I have oily, acne prone skin and I loved it!! It didn't break me out or clog my pores. It actually helped balance my skin so I didn't get oily throughout the day. I don't use it anymore though because my acne medication doesn't sit well with it. As for clogged pores, try a scrub. Also do a facial mask. :)

I agree with Katherine I use the Biore Pore Strips for the blackheads on my nose, it works great! And I love coconut oil for my face at night. After a week of using it my best friend and my mom both commented on how great my skin looked. I'm 42 with combination skin. Dry everywhere but the T-Zone. It has to be a certain kind of coconut oil though (found that out here on Beautylish). I think it has to be cold pressed and unrefined organic coconut oil. It should smell like coconuts for sure. If it doesn't...its not the right one. Found that out the hard way lol

Let me rephrase what I said earlier... Coconut oil wasn't downright horrible for my skin, but it didn't do fantastic things for my skin. It didn't break me out but I know it does for some. I think its fine for every once in a while, but like I said, it doesn't do wonders. Now I do still use it for exfoliating (mixed with sugar) for my legs and arms. But for dry skin on the face I don't think it helped at all because there are better moisturizers specifically meant for the face and other oils as well.

Also, deffinitely try pore strips, but don't use them too often because your pores can stretch and get bigger.

Coconut oil clogs pores so it is not good for use on the face. However I have used it for makeup removal which is fine if you wash it off. But be careful to not get it in your eye because it can build up and cause infection. I use it on my body to lock in moisture and it has faded my scars. For blackheads try using black clay soap or mask.
