There is what suits you the best, and what you like the most... I have a pretty fair skin (yellow toned), and I prefer blue reds rathee than orange reds (I don't like orange on lips, except a few shades). But sure, I like the SnowWhite effect blue reds lol. As I have small lips, I don't wear darker reds, it makes me look like Evil Witch :p

There's really no rule... Just depends on how you use it. I love orange reds on my tan, olive skin... But I like blue reds because they make my teeth look whiter. What makes or breaks the decision is what I'm feeling for the day. Even if you try to narrow it down, I promise you that you'll end up with at least two shades of red!

i use MAC lady danger, its a coral red so it has orange undertones.
im really white so it really POPS hahahahha

Finding the perfect lipstick shade is all about trial & error. I would go buy a few shades at the drugstore first and try them out.

It was so hard to find a red lip that suited me I have about 30 red lipsticks that I don't wear, it is all trail and error really, you could always ask someone especially somewhere like MAC xx

Try to use andrew's tips, but the best way to find the rigth red lip stick that matches your skin color is to try it out. That is the best advise i can give to you, it is not easy to find the perfect shade, but when you find it....you are going to be happy with it!

@Andrew B. I totally disagree! O.O Pale people tend to have blue undertones, and you're supposed to find a blue based lipstick. If you're a warmer skintone, with warm undertones, then you should go orange based. But I know when I wear red lipstick with orange undertones I look like an absolute FREAK!!! I try to find the more pinky reds, which tells me they have a blue undertone. But like everyone else said, trial and error. My favorite red lipsticks for my light skinned blue undertoned skin are: MACs Russian Red, NARS Dragon Girl (pencil form), Maybelline Colorsensational Lipstick in Very Cherry (wearing it in profile picture). :D
