I'm starting freelancing in about 2 months, and instead of buying loads of individual concealers, I was wondering if those concealer palettes you can get off ebay are any good? I've heard of a few MUA's using them but I don't know how well they work.

Concealer pallets are extremely helpful when it comes to doing other peoples makeup. I agree with the BenNye one! It's fantastic! So are the MUFE ones (there are three I think...) and the Coastal Scents one! ^.^ Here are the links to all three! http://sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P12630&shouldPaginate=true&categoryId=4028 (Like I said, there are three of these MUFE ones), http://www.coastalscents.com/makeup/palettes/face-palettes/pl-026.html http://www.cosplaysupplies.com/store.php?p=ABNKP-12 These will definitely come in handy for the many people you will be working with. You need the capability to mix different concealers to match their skin tone, so these work wonders! They never fail! ^.^

The costal scents one is the same as the eBay one!

I use the MUFE concealer palettes in my professional kit. Another palette that can be used as a concealer and foundation are the Graftobian HD Creme Foundations. Those are a must in a MUA kit. They form a staple in my kit. Economical and serve two purposes, and can be sheered out with moiturizer. If you are on a budget, the concealer palette from Victoria Secret "PRO" line is great because it has correctors as well. Hope this was of some help for you.

@Maria O. I forgot about the Graftobian foundations! I knew I was missing something, haha. Those are seriously amazing.

I use the Ebay 15 Concealer Palette [Which Coastal Scents calls their Eclipse Palette] for personal use & I love it. I have oily/normal skin & I can already tell you now that this wouldn't work as well for dry skinned people. But in general, I love the quality.
While I know you would enjoy the ebay palette in your kit, I would suggest also having different pallets w/ a different formula to accommodate those with more dry skin since this can cake up on flakes & dry spots.

I personally know nothing about dry skin since I've never experienced it, lol - but it seems like Maria O. is very informed with this!

Thanks everyone! You've all been really helpful :)

Checkout camerareadycosmetics.com they have all professional makeup lines including a wide range of palettes from different brands. They also have samples starting at $3.99. It's a great way to start without getting overwhelmed.

Ive heard a lot of good things about the Sonia Kashuk pallet but I have yet to get a around to try it. ELF has a concealer corrector pallet and it was trash! The concealer wouldnt even come out onto a brush or your finger and none of the colors did show up if you did get it out, But it was cheap and i guess thats what you get for 3 dollars lol My favorite concealer of all time is Benefits erase paste!

The BenNye is a very good concealer pallete but there are also some good ones out there too like BH cosmetic, coastal scents etc

I never tried the Ben nye concealer but I have heard really good things about it. I am currently using the MUFE pallet and I really like it. It gives a really good coverage.

Thanks @Andrea. I have combo skin, normal/oily but I deal with primarily agency models and the vast majority all have dry skin.

I have a special place in my heart (and kit) for Ben Nye, Graftobian & Dermacolour concealers. Some Dermacolour concealers will glow in the dark under black lights, so check your lighting..sadly learnt this from a bad experience...lol

Haha xD I really want to get my hands on some Ben Nye stuff, I'm into all the theatrical make up :)

Any tips on applying/blending? Currently using disposable sponges at the salon. I've seen lots of people blending with smaller brushes, but not the flat concealer brushes used for blemish covering...prepping for bridal/prom season.

I use the Coastal Scents palette. It's so universal because its a neutral palette and can be mixed to compliment the model. @Lindsay I apply concealer with a small concealer brush and blend out with a disposable sponge!

@Lindsay C. I apply it with my finger, or with a concealer or lip brush. If you're covering a larger surface, I'd use my finger. If it's just a patch of redness, or a cluster of zits, or just a rather large zit, I use a concealer brush. If it's just a little zit, I use a lip brush. Once I apply it, I blend it out with either a duo-fiber brush, or just a powder brush. :) You just have to make sure that it's blended out properly. And you want a good formula of concealer. If your concealer is too liquidy, odds are it's not going to last very long. But with liquidy concealers, they're super easy to blend out. I prefer cream concealers though. :D

ive Used ben Nye and BH cosmetics, i love them both and they both come in tons of handy on shoots !

I have used Ben Nye as well...but I think it shows under HD camera, however it is a space saver. A little goes a long way. I also love the MUFE HD concealers, although there is no palette for them.. i guess I use some of both.
