My flat iron just isn't working well anymore. I was wondering what the latest and greatest out there were and what your experiences would be with them.

What would you recommend?
What should people stay away from?

chi flat irons are the best it used to take me 3 hours to straighten my hair with like drug store irons since i've gotten my chi it takes like an hour. it gets really hot and it makes your hair really smooth and shiny. hope this helped you!

Paul Brown flat iron is my favorite! I ve tried chi before, but I notice that it opens my ends and leaves a burnt smell in my hair. Good luck!

CHI and GHD are the most popular to use in hair salons. VERY expensive. Even pro price can be over $100 depending on the model.

I love my GHD flat iron! I've had it for over a year and it's still going strong. It works so well (I have curly hair) and my hair gets perfectly straight, much better than my Chi. Using the chi I would have to keep going over my hair. However, if your hair is wavy I think the chi would work fine.

I use Remmington T-Studio that I bought at Target for $40. I love it. My favourite thing is that I can control the temperature. I use 140F so I don't fry my hair (I use pantene for thick hair styling products). My hair is smooth, silky, shiny and has movement. Also, I can use it on damp hair and it works great too (I raise the temp to 160 if my hair is damp).  xoxo

i love the NuMe Vintage flat iron, 100% solid ceramic plates, swivel cord so you don't get tangled up while you style and it heats up quick so there really is no wait time.

I had a FHI. I really loved that because the way it was designed, I didn't have to worry too much about the sides touching my foreheard or neck because it will burn.

But I hear Croc is a good brand. Solia or Sedu are some good brands. A good online site to buy flat irons from, especially ones from brands who will honor their warranty (Versus them not honoring flat irons sold off of Amazon, Overstock, etc.) is Folica. All three of these brands and more can be found on Folica.

GHD is by far the best I've used!! Im obsessed with mine! I've had a CHI before and Some other brand I got from JC Pennys and they pulled on my hair a lot! Yes it is PRICEY but you definitely get your moneys worth and there is also a two year warranty on them so if it break within those two years just get a new one. :-D

I use s ceramic hot tools one

Solia Tourmaline Ceramic Ion Flat Iron! I have really big thick hair & this flat is the best I have ever used! I've used hot tools, chi, & global beauty flat iron before but this one beats them all. & it only cost me $63 when http://www.folica.com/ had a 20% off sale :)

Grils, you can STOP LOOKING right here!! Hands down the BEST flat iron I've ever used (I've been straightening my hair for 7 years) is the Remington Frizz Therapy Shine Therapy with avacado oil infused in the plates. It's $49.99 at Target. If you want to see more specifics, check out our blog where we reviewed it last week. I flat iron hair tutorial will post on Tuesday, so be sure to check back for that too!

I have the GHD and I'm quite happy w/ it. I agree w/ the above mentioning that the CHI left an undesirable burning smell to my hair as I used it. Also, the CHI snagged my long hair like there was no tomorrow.

Two flat irons i really like are the Chi and the T3 Pro. Both are a little bit on the pricey side but definitely worth it! The T3 Pro is around $100 and the Chi prices depend on the model. Hope this helps!!

I know this is a late response, but I love my Chi flat iron. I had it for 9-10 years and it still work wonders! It's all about caring for your tools too. When I'm done using them, I place them nicely away; instead of tossing them around.

And stay away from any Conair products. I personally think, they are horrible. Never seem to have heat in them-- that styles the way others could. Just make sure you read on the reviews before buying them. =]

I have used drugstore brands, hot tools, etc. the only brand that has lasted over a year is my current straightener hich is HAI elite. I bought it 5 years ago and it still works like its brand new. I have thick, wavy coarse hair and it leave my hair smooth and silky all day :) I,am also able to make lots of different types of curls with it. My hair stylist told me its better than chi. I have the one with the 1" wide plates.

I'm not to sure where everybody here is from.. But here in england GHD's are a MUST! It is the only hair straighteners that still keeps your hair straight and tamed with from all the weather! ☔ And yes the stories are true.. It rains ALOT! So there's such a damp atmosphere when it does which = frizzy/humid hair! :( So GHD's are just a miracle to a girl if she lives in wetter areas.. After all there used id most salons... Id just say that yes they are expensive, but they're also like stupidly hot! And you can't change the temperature (depending on what GHD styler you go for) so if you have damaged hair you would need a seriously good heat protector!! If you don't necessarily live in such humid conditions and already have thin hair you'll find that they will make your hair flat without almost any bounce! :( I guess it's just finding a great straightener that is best suited to you really :) good luck! It took me soo long to find mine but i now couldn't live without it!

PS: with the HAI straightener, you can customize the tenperature as high or as low,as you want it in increments of 2° F I have mine at 350°

I have an Ulta Chi and it works wonders! I've gone through many straighteners and this one is by far my favorite. Although I don't like how it doesn't have heat settings but the one it's at seems to work great I just like having control. It's also really good for curling hair.

GHD, is absolutely wonderful, it is expensive though. The straightener heats up quickly, and leaves my hair feeling silky smooth. I have used the Pro-styler brand, Jilbere, and Chi, and none of them compare to GHD. The Chi works very well, but many of my friends have used them and they literally just die on them after a year or two. That may not happen to everybody, but I would be a little wary.
